This procedure relearns the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensors after tire rotation, replacement, or pressure adjustment on 2018-2024 Toyota Camry vehicles.

Warnings

ℹ️TPMS relearn must be performed after tire rotation, sensor replacement, tire pressure adjustment, or whenever the TPMS warning light is illuminated.
Ensure all tires are at the correct cold pressure before beginning the relearn procedure. Incorrect pressures will cause the system to store incorrect baseline values.

Tools required

Tire pressure gaugeEssential
Air compressor or tire inflatorEssential

Preparation

  1. Locate the driver's door jamb sticker showing the correct tire pressures for front and rear tires
  2. Ensure tires are cold (vehicle has been parked for at least 3 hours)
  3. Verify the vehicle is parked on level ground in a safe location
  4. Turn off the ignition and remove the key fob from the vehicle

Procedure

  1. 1
    Check and adjust tire pressures
Using a tire pressure gauge, check the pressure in all four tires. The 2018-2024 Camry typically specifies 35 PSI front and rear for standard loads. Inflate or deflate each tire to match the specification on the driver's door jamb sticker exactly. Recheck each tire after adjustment to ensure accuracy.
  2. 2
    Turn ignition to ON position
Insert the key or press the START button twice without pressing the brake pedal to turn the ignition to ON (not ACC, not ENGINE START). All dashboard lights should illuminate. Do not start the engine.
  3. 3
    Access TPMS reset button
Locate the TPMS reset button beneath the steering wheel, to the left of the steering column near the hood release lever. The button is small and typically black with a tire icon or 'SET' label.
  4. 4
    Initiate TPMS relearn mode
Press and hold the TPMS reset button until the tire pressure warning light on the instrument cluster blinks three times slowly (approximately 3 seconds). Release the button. The warning light will remain illuminated while the system is in relearn mode.
  5. 5
    Drive vehicle to complete relearn
Start the engine and drive the vehicle at speeds between 25-65 mph for approximately 10-30 minutes. The system will automatically detect and register all four TPMS sensors during normal driving. Drive on varied roads including turns and straight sections to ensure all sensors are recognized.
  6. 6
    Verify relearn completion
After the drive cycle, park the vehicle and turn off the engine. Wait 15 seconds, then restart the engine. The TPMS warning light should turn off after approximately 10 seconds if the relearn was successful. If the light remains on or blinks, repeat the procedure starting from Step 2.

Reassembly

  1. No disassembly required for this procedure

Verification

  • Start the engine and verify the TPMS warning light turns off within 10 seconds
  • Check the Multi-Information Display (MID) to confirm individual tire pressures are displayed correctly for all four tires
  • Drive the vehicle for 5 minutes and verify the warning light does not reilluminate
  • If using a TPMS scan tool, verify all four sensor IDs are properly registered in the vehicle's ECU
