Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level ground and engage parking brake
  2. Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels
  3. Disconnect negative battery terminal and secure cable away from terminal

    Disconnect shift cable and remaining connections

Verify proper seating by measuring depth from bell housing face.

    Reinstall transmission to engine
    Apply a light coating of high-temperature grease to the input shaft splines. Position the transmission on the jack and carefully align it with the engine. Ensure the torque converter remains fully seated while sliding the transmission forward. Install all bell housing bolts and tighten to specification. The transmission should mate to the engine without forcing.
    If the transmission does not slide into place easily, the torque converter may have fallen out of engagement. Remove and reseat the converter.

Reassembly
