Replace the AC pressure sensor on a 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV to restore proper AC system monitoring and function.
Warnings
⚠️AC system operates under high pressure. Improper handling can cause serious injury. Only certified technicians should recover and recharge refrigerant.
⚠️R-1234yf refrigerant is mildly flammable. Ensure adequate ventilation and no ignition sources nearby.
⚠Wear safety glasses and gloves when working with AC system components to protect against refrigerant exposure.
ℹ️This vehicle uses R-1234yf refrigerant, not R-134a. Do not mix refrigerant types.

Parts
- AC pressure sensor × 1 — Use OEM specification
- AC line O-rings × 2 — Use OEM specification
Fluids
- R-1234yf refrigerant
- PAG oil (ND-12) — 0.02 qt
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Turn off vehicle and remove 12V battery negative terminal to prevent electrical issues
- Allow AC system to equalize pressure for at least 10 minutes if recently operated
- Locate AC pressure sensor on the high-pressure AC line near the condenser (front of vehicle, driver side)
- Have AC refrigerant professionally recovered by certified technician using approved recovery equipment
Procedure
- 1Access AC pressure sensorOpen the hood and secure with prop rod. Locate the AC pressure sensor on the high-pressure line near the condenser assembly on the driver side of the front compartment. The sensor has an electrical connector and threads into the AC line.
- 2Disconnect electrical connectorPress the tab on the AC pressure sensor electrical connector and pull straight away from the sensor. Do not pull on the wires. Set the connector aside where it will not contact moving parts or hot surfaces.
- 3Remove AC pressure sensorUsing a 10mm socket, carefully unthread the AC pressure sensor from the high-pressure line fitting. Turn counterclockwise to remove. Once loose, finish removal by hand to prevent dropping. Some residual refrigerant oil may drip out; catch with a shop towel.
- 4Inspect and clean fittingInspect the AC line fitting threads for damage or debris. Clean threads with a lint-free shop towel. Remove and discard the old O-ring from the AC line fitting using a pick or small flathead screwdriver. Inspect the O-ring sealing surface for scratches or damage.
- 5Install new O-ringInstall a new O-ring onto the AC line fitting. Apply a small amount of clean PAG oil (ND-12) to the O-ring to lubricate and ensure proper sealing. Do not overlubricate; a thin film is sufficient.
- 6Install new AC pressure sensorThread the new AC pressure sensor into the high-pressure line fitting by hand first to ensure proper thread engagement. Once hand-tight, use the torque wrench with 10mm socket to tighten to specification. Do not overtighten as this can damage the sensor or fitting threads.Torque specAC Line Fittings20 Nm (15 lb-ft)
- 7Reconnect electrical connectorPush the electrical connector onto the new AC pressure sensor until it clicks into place. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is fully seated and locked. Ensure the wire harness is routed away from sharp edges and heat sources.
- 8Reconnect 12V batteryReconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. The vehicle may require a brief initialization period for the AC control module to recognize the new sensor.
- 9Evacuate and recharge AC systemHave a certified technician evacuate the AC system to remove air and moisture, then recharge with the correct amount of R-1234yf refrigerant per manufacturer specifications. The system should be evacuated for at least 30 minutes before recharging.
Reassembly
- Ensure all electrical connections are secure and properly routed
- Verify AC line fitting is torqued to specification and not leaking
- Close hood and ensure proper latch engagement
Verification
- Start vehicle and turn AC system to maximum cold setting
- Verify AC compressor engages and disengages normally
- Use AC diagnostic scan tool to confirm pressure sensor is reading within normal range (typically 150-250 psi on high side at idle)
- Check for refrigerant leaks at sensor fitting using electronic leak detector or soap solution
- Verify AC system blows cold air at expected temperature (typically 40-50°F at vents)
- Confirm no AC-related fault codes are present in vehicle computer
