Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake. Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels.

Open bleeder screw 1/2 to 3/4 turn while helper maintains pressure. Close bleeder before helper releases pedal. Repeat until fluid flows with no air bubbles. Check and refill master cylinder reservoir frequently - never let it run dry.

    Repeat the bleeding procedure from Step 11 for the remaining three wheels in this exact order: Left Rear, Right Front, Left Front. At each wheel, continue bleeding until brake fluid flows clear with no air bubbles. Maintain master cylinder reservoir level above MIN line throughout the entire process. Torque each bleeder screw to specification after bleeding that wheel.
    Check master cylinder reservoir level after each wheel. Top off as needed with fresh DOT 4 brake fluid only.

    With all wheels bled, fill the master cylinder reservoir to the MAX line. Install the reservoir cap and torque to specification (hand tight). Wipe all brake fluid residue from master cylinder, brake lines, and surrounding components with clean water and lint-free cloths. Inspect all brake line connections for leaks.
    Immediately wash away any brake fluid from painted surfaces with water to prevent paint damage.

  3. Remove all tools and materials from engine compartment.
  4. Check that all electrical connections are secured and no wiring is pinched or damaged.

Verification

  • With vehicle powered ON, verify the brake warning light is OFF on the instrument cluster.
  • Check master cylinder and all brake line connections for fluid leaks with brake pedal held under pressure.
  • Test brake pedal feel - should be firm within 3-5 pumps and maintain pressure without sinking.
  • Perform a low-speed brake test in a safe area: brake pedal should respond immediately with firm, even braking. Vehicle should stop straight without pulling.
  • Road test at varying speeds in a safe area, testing brakes at progressively higher speeds. Brakes should engage smoothly and vehicle should stop straight.
  • After road test, recheck brake fluid level and all connections for leaks. Top off fluid if needed.
  • If ANY abnormality is detected (soft pedal, pulling, noise, leaks, warning lights), DO NOT drive vehicle. Have it towed to a qualified brake specialist.
