Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Chock front wheels securely
- Loosen rear wheel lug nuts while vehicle is on ground
- Raise rear of vehicle and support securely on jack stands at manufacturer-specified jacking points
- Remove rear wheel completely
- Spray control arm bolts and ball joint nut with penetrating oil and allow to soak
Procedure
- 1Remove ball joint cotter pin and nutRemove and discard the cotter pin from the ball joint castle nut. Using a socket and breaker bar, remove the ball joint nut completely. Note: You may need to hold the ball joint stud with a wrench to prevent spinning.
