Warnings

Do not force trim clips or fascia panels. Plastic components are brittle in cold weather and can break easily.
ℹ️This vehicle is electric. While 12V system work is generally safe, avoid contact with high-voltage orange cables if exposed during bumper removal.
ℹ️Mark or photograph connector orientations before disconnection to ensure proper reassembly.

Parts

  • Fog light assembly × 1 — 84658423 or equivalent OEM
  • Push-pin retainers (if damaged) × 5 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn off vehicle and remove key fob from interior
  3. Allow fog lights to cool if recently used (minimum 10 minutes)
  4. Open hood and disconnect negative 12V battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts
  5. Turn steering wheel to full lock opposite the side being serviced for additional clearance

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove wheel well liner fasteners
Turn the front wheels to access the forward portion of the wheel well liner. Remove the push-pin fasteners securing the front section of the fender liner to the bumper fascia using the trim removal tool. You will need to remove approximately 3-4 fasteners on the side being serviced.
  2. 2
    Remove lower bumper fasteners
From underneath the front of the vehicle, locate and remove the T25 Torx screws securing the lower edge of the front bumper fascia. There are typically 6-8 screws along the bottom edge. Keep screws organized for reinstallation.
  3. 3
    Remove upper bumper fasteners
Open the hood and locate the push-pin fasteners and screws along the top edge of the bumper fascia where it meets the hood opening. Remove all fasteners along the top edge, typically 4-6 push-pins.
  4. 4
    Release bumper side clips
At each side of the bumper near the wheel wells, carefully pull the fascia away from the fender to release the hidden retention clips. Apply steady, even pressure and work the fascia loose. You may need to use a trim tool to release stubborn clips. Pull the fascia forward approximately 6-8 inches but do not fully remove yet.
  5. 5
    Disconnect fog light electrical connector
With the bumper fascia pulled forward, reach behind to locate the fog light electrical connector on the back of the fog light assembly. Press the release tab and carefully disconnect the wiring harness connector. Note the connector orientation for reassembly.
  6. 6
    Remove fog light mounting fasteners
Locate the three mounting screws or bolts securing the fog light assembly to the bumper fascia bracket. Remove these fasteners completely. The fog light assembly should now be free from the bumper.

  7. 7
    Remove fog light assembly
Carefully extract the fog light assembly from the bumper fascia opening. Twist or angle the assembly as needed to clear the opening without damaging the bumper or surrounding components.
  8. 8
    Install new fog light assembly
Insert the new fog light assembly into the bumper fascia opening, ensuring proper orientation and alignment with mounting holes. The assembly should seat flush against the bumper mounting surface without gaps.
  9. 9
    Secure fog light mounting fasteners
Install the three mounting fasteners and torque to specification in a cross-pattern to ensure even seating. Verify the fog light assembly is secure and properly aligned with the bumper opening.

  10. 10
    Reconnect electrical connector
Reconnect the fog light electrical connector to the back of the fog light assembly, ensuring it clicks fully into place and the locking tab engages. Gently tug to verify secure connection.
  11. 11
    Reinstall bumper fascia
Carefully guide the bumper fascia back into position, aligning the side clips with their receptacles in the fenders. Push firmly until all clips engage with audible clicks. Ensure the fascia is properly seated along all edges before installing fasteners.
  12. 12
    Reinstall all bumper fasteners
Reinstall all push-pins along the top edge, T25 Torx screws along the bottom edge, and wheel well liner fasteners in reverse order of removal. Ensure all fasteners are fully seated and secure.
  13. 13
    Reconnect battery and test
Reconnect the negative 12V battery terminal and torque to specification. Turn on the vehicle and activate the fog lights to verify proper operation of the new assembly. Check for proper illumination and beam pattern.

Reassembly

  1. Verify all bumper fascia panel gaps are even and consistent with the opposite side
  2. Inspect all trim clips and fasteners to ensure none were missed during reinstallation
  3. Confirm fog light lens is clean and free of fingerprints or debris

Verification

  • Turn on fog lights and verify proper illumination with correct beam pattern
  • Check that fog light assembly is secure with no movement or rattling
  • Inspect bumper fascia alignment and verify all panel gaps are correct
  • Verify no warning lights are present on instrument cluster
  • Road test vehicle and confirm fog lights operate properly at speed with no vibration or flickering
