Parts

  • Heated seat module × 1 — Use OEM specification
  • Seat trim panel clips (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn off all electrical accessories and ensure ignition is off
  3. Open hood and disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal
  4. Wait minimum 2 minutes for capacitors to discharge
  5. Move front seat fully forward to access rear mounting bolts, then fully rearward to access front mounting bolts

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove seat trim covers
Locate the plastic trim covers on the sides of the seat base. Using trim panel removal tools, carefully pry the side trim panels away from the seat frame. Work slowly to avoid breaking the retaining clips. Set trim panels aside in a safe location.
  2. 2
    Disconnect seat electrical connectors
Locate all electrical connectors under the seat including the heated seat module connector, seat position sensor, and occupancy sensor. Press the locking tabs and disconnect each connector. Note the connector positions and routing for reinstallation.
  3. 3
    Remove seat mounting bolts
Using a Torx T30 driver, remove the four seat mounting bolts (two front, two rear). Support the seat while removing the final bolts. Carefully lift the seat assembly out of the vehicle with assistance if needed, as seats can be heavy.

  4. 4
    Remove seat cushion cover
With the seat removed from the vehicle, turn it upside down on a clean work surface. Locate the hog rings or plastic clips securing the seat cushion cover to the seat frame. Using hog ring pliers or trim tools, release the fasteners around the perimeter of the cushion. Carefully pull the cushion cover back to expose the heated seat module.
  5. 5
    Disconnect heated seat element connectors
Locate the heated seat element connectors attached to the heating pad within the cushion. These will be connected to the heated seat module. Press the connector locking tabs and disconnect both heating element connectors. Note their orientation.
  6. 6
Remove heated seat module mounting hardware
The heated seat module is typically secured to the seat frame with bolts or screws. Using a 10mm socket or appropriate Torx driver, remove the module mounting bolts. Keep track of any brackets or spacers that may be present.

  8. 8
    Install new heated seat module
Position the new heated seat module in the mounting location on the seat frame. Align the mounting holes and ensure the module sits flush against the mounting surface. Install the module mounting bolts hand-tight initially, then torque to specification.

  9. 9
    Reconnect heated seat element connectors
Connect the heated seat element connectors to the new module, ensuring they are fully seated and the locking tabs engage. Verify the connectors are secure by gently tugging on them. Route wiring to avoid pinch points.
  10. 10
    Reinstall seat cushion cover
Pull the seat cushion cover back over the seat frame and heating elements. Ensure the heating pad is properly positioned and not wrinkled. Reinstall all hog rings or clips around the perimeter to secure the cushion cover to the seat frame.
