Parts

  • Side mirror assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
  • Door trim panel clips (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Disconnect negative battery terminal to prevent electrical short circuits
  3. Wait 2 minutes after battery disconnection for system capacitors to discharge
  4. Roll down the window on the side being serviced for easier access
  5. Protect door paint with masking tape around mirror base area if desired

Procedure

  1. 1
Remove door trim panel upper section
Using the trim panel removal tool, carefully pry up the upper corner of the door trim panel near the mirror mounting area. You only need to release the upper section, not the entire panel. Remove the small triangular trim cover at the front upper corner of the door panel by gently pulling it away from the door frame. This exposes the mirror mounting area.
  2. 2
    Access mirror mounting hardware
Locate the three mounting bolts securing the mirror assembly to the door frame. These are visible through the opening once the trim is removed. The electrical connector will be located behind the mounting area, attached to a wiring harness.
  3. 3
    Disconnect mirror electrical connector
Locate the main electrical connector for the mirror assembly. Press the locking tab and carefully pull the connector apart. The connector supplies power to the mirror adjustment motors, heating element, turn signal, and power folding mechanism. Ensure the connector is fully separated before proceeding.
Do not pull on wires directly. Always grasp the connector body to avoid damaging the wiring harness.
  4. 4
    Remove mirror mounting bolts
Using the 10mm socket, remove the three mounting bolts that secure the mirror assembly to the door frame. Support the mirror from the outside with your other hand to prevent it from falling once the bolts are removed. Keep track of any washers or spacers on the mounting bolts.

  5. 5
    Remove mirror assembly
Carefully pull the mirror assembly away from the door, feeding the electrical connector through the mounting hole. Remove the mirror completely from the vehicle. Inspect the mounting surface on the door for any damage or corrosion.
The mirror is heavy and awkward to handle. Maintain a firm grip to avoid dropping it.
  6. 6
    Prepare new mirror assembly
Remove the new mirror assembly from its packaging. Verify that the electrical connector matches the vehicle harness connector. Check that all mounting holes align properly before installation. Feed the electrical connector through the mounting hole in the door frame.
  7. 7
    Position and align mirror assembly
Position the new mirror assembly against the door frame, ensuring the mounting holes align with the threaded inserts in the door. The mirror base gasket should seat flush against the door surface. Have an assistant support the mirror from outside if working alone is difficult.
  8. 8
    Install mounting bolts
Install all three mounting bolts finger-tight first to ensure proper alignment. Once all bolts are started, tighten them in a star pattern using the torque wrench to the specified torque value of 34.0 Nm (25 lb-ft). This ensures even pressure distribution and proper sealing.
ℹ️Proper torque is critical to prevent water leaks and wind noise. Do not overtighten as this may crack the mirror base.

  9. 9
    Connect mirror electrical connector
Reconnect the electrical connector to the mirror assembly, ensuring it clicks firmly into place. Verify the locking tab is fully engaged. Tuck any excess wiring back into the door cavity to prevent interference with the trim panel.
  10. 10
    Reinstall door trim panel
Reinstall the triangular trim cover at the upper corner of the door panel, pressing firmly until all clips are seated. Ensure the trim panel is flush with the door surface and all clips are properly engaged. Verify no gaps exist around the trim.
  11. 11
    Reconnect battery and test functions
Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten to specification. Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start). Test all mirror functions: power adjustment in all directions, power folding operation, mirror heating function, and turn signal operation if equipped. Verify smooth operation without binding or unusual noises.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all electrical connectors are properly seated and locked
  2. Verify trim panel is flush and all clips are secure
  3. Check mirror adjustment range and ensure no obstructions
  4. Confirm all mounting bolts are torqued to specification

Verification

  • Test power mirror adjustment in all four directions (up, down, left, right)
  • Verify power folding function operates smoothly in both directions
  • With engine running and defroster on, confirm mirror heating element activates
  • Check turn signal operation in mirror housing if equipped
  • Verify no wind noise or water leaks around mirror base
  • Inspect mirror for proper alignment with vehicle body lines
  • Confirm door trim panel is secure with no rattles or gaps
