Sunroof Switch

Remove and replace the sunroof switch assembly located in the overhead console of the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal using a 10mm wrench
3. Wait at least 2 minutes for airbag system capacitors to discharge
4. Ensure sunroof is in the fully closed position

Procedure

1. 1

   Remove overhead console lens
   Using a trim panel removal tool, carefully pry down the front edge of the overhead console lens near the sunroof switch. Work around the perimeter to release the retaining clips. Pull the lens down and toward the rear of the vehicle to remove.

   Disconnect overhead console electrical connectors
   Locate the electrical connectors for the dome lights and sunroof switch. Press the connector lock tabs and disconnect all electrical connectors from the overhead console assembly. Support the console as you disconnect the final connector.

   Remove overhead console mounting screws
   Using a T20 Torx driver, remove the two screws securing the overhead console to the headliner. These screws are typically located at the front and rear of the console housing.

   Lower overhead console assembly
   Carefully lower the overhead console assembly while guiding any remaining wiring harnesses through the headliner opening. Set the console on a clean, protected work surface with the switch side facing up.

   Remove sunroof switch retaining screws
   Locate the small screws or clips securing the sunroof switch to the overhead console housing. Remove these fasteners and carefully note their positions for reassembly.
   Torque spec

   Connector Screws4 Nm (3 lb-ft)

   Disconnect sunroof switch connector
   Press the locking tab on the sunroof switch electrical connector and pull the connector straight out from the switch assembly. Inspect the connector pins for corrosion or damage.

   Remove sunroof switch from console
   Carefully pull the sunroof switch assembly out of the overhead console housing. Note the orientation and routing of any wiring for proper installation of the replacement switch.

   Install new sunroof switch
   Position the new sunroof switch in the overhead console housing in the same orientation as the original. Ensure the switch is fully seated and aligned with the console opening.

   Connect electrical connector and secure switch
   Connect the electrical connector to the new sunroof switch until you hear or feel a positive click. Install and tighten the switch retaining screws to secure the switch in the console housing.
   Torque spec

   Connector Screws4 Nm (3 lb-ft)

    Reinstall overhead console assembly
    Guide the overhead console wiring harnesses through the headliner opening and position the console against the headliner. Install the two T20 Torx mounting screws and tighten securely, but do not overtighten as the headliner substrate can be damaged.

    Reconnect electrical connectors and install lens
    Connect all electrical connectors to the overhead console (dome lights and any additional components). Align the overhead console lens with the console housing and press firmly around the perimeter until all clips engage with audible clicks.
12. 12

    Reconnect battery and initialize system
    Reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal and tighten securely. Turn the ignition to ON position without starting the vehicle to allow systems to initialize.
    Torque spec

    Battery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)

Reassembly

1. Ensure all overhead console clips are fully engaged and the lens sits flush with no gaps
2. Verify all electrical connectors are fully seated with locking tabs engaged
3. After reconnecting battery, some vehicles may require sunroof relearn procedure - consult owner's manual

Verification

• Turn ignition to ON and verify dome lights operate correctly
• Test sunroof OPEN function - sunroof should tilt and slide open smoothly
• Test sunroof CLOSE function - sunroof should close completely and seal properly
• Verify sunroof tilt function operates in both directions
• Check that the switch LED illuminates when doors are opened (if equipped)
• Ensure overhead console lens is secure and does not rattle
