Warnings
⚠Allow fog lights to cool for at least 10 minutes before attempting bulb removal to prevent burns from hot bulb or housing.
ℹ️Do not touch the glass portion of the new halogen bulb with bare fingers, as oils will cause premature failure and hot spots.
⚠If accessing from wheel well, ensure vehicle is securely supported on jack stands and parking brake is engaged.

Parts
- H10 fog light bulb (9145) × 1 — H10 or 9145 halogen bulb, 42W
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Turn off fog lights and allow to cool for at least 10 minutes if recently used
- Determine access method: some F-150 configurations allow access from underneath, others require partial wheel well liner removal
- If accessing through wheel well, turn steering wheel fully to opposite side of bulb being replaced for better access
Procedure
- 1Access fog light assemblyFrom underneath the front bumper or through the wheel well opening, locate the fog light assembly on the affected side. If necessary, carefully pull back the plastic inner fender liner to expose the rear of the fog light housing. Some models have a small access panel that can be removed without disturbing the entire liner.
- 2Disconnect electrical connectorLocate the electrical connector on the back of the fog light bulb socket. Press the release tab on the connector and pull it straight off the bulb socket. Do not pull on the wires themselves. If the connector is stuck due to corrosion, gently wiggle while pulling.
- 3Remove bulb socketRotate the bulb socket counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (90 degrees) until it releases from the fog light housing. Pull the socket straight out of the housing. Note the orientation of the socket for reinstallation.
- 4Remove old bulb from socketThe H10 bulb is a wedge-type design. Gently pull the old bulb straight out of the socket. If the bulb is stuck, gently wiggle while pulling. Inspect the socket for any corrosion, moisture, or damage. Clean any corrosion with electrical contact cleaner if present.
- 5Install new bulbUsing a clean cloth or the packaging, handle the new H10 bulb without touching the glass. Insert the new bulb into the socket, ensuring the tabs on the bulb base align with the slots in the socket. Push firmly until the bulb is fully seated in the socket.
- 6Reinstall bulb socket into housingInsert the bulb socket back into the fog light housing, aligning the tabs on the socket with the slots in the housing. Push the socket in fully, then rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into place. Ensure the socket is secure and cannot be pulled out.
- 7Reconnect electrical connectorPush the electrical connector onto the bulb socket until you hear or feel a positive click, indicating the locking tab has engaged. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is securely attached.
- 8Restore wheel well linerIf the inner fender liner was pulled back or removed, reinstall it to its original position. Ensure all clips and fasteners are properly seated to prevent wind noise and to protect components from road debris.
Reassembly
- Ensure wheel well liner is properly secured if it was disturbed during access
- Verify all clips and fasteners are in place to prevent rattles or liner separation
Verification
- Turn ignition to ON position and activate fog lights using the headlight control stalk or switch
- Visually confirm the new fog light illuminates with proper brightness matching the opposite side
- Walk around vehicle to verify beam pattern appears correct and fog light housing is properly seated
- Check for any warning lights on the instrument cluster that might indicate a bulb or electrical issue
- Test both fog lights on and off several times to ensure proper operation
