Turn Signal Bulb - Front

This procedure covers removal and replacement of the front turn signal bulb on a 2015-2020 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine.

• Front turn signal bulb (3157A or 3057A amber) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off ignition
2. Ensure headlights and turn signals have been off for at least 5 minutes to allow cooling
3. Open hood and secure with prop rod if necessary

Procedure

1. 1

   Access the headlight assembly
   Locate the headlight assembly on the affected side. The turn signal bulb socket is accessible from the engine bay behind the headlight housing on the outboard side (closest to the fender).

   Locate the turn signal bulb socket
   Identify the turn signal bulb socket behind the headlight assembly. It is a separate round socket positioned toward the outer edge of the headlight housing, typically with an amber or clear lens visible from behind.

   Remove the bulb socket
   Grasp the bulb socket firmly and rotate it counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (90 degrees) until it releases from the headlight housing. Pull the socket straight out from the housing.

   Remove the old bulb
   Press the bulb gently into the socket while rotating counterclockwise to release it from the bayonet-style mount. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket. Inspect the socket for any corrosion or damage to the contacts.

   Install the new bulb
   Using a clean cloth or gloves, insert the new bulb into the socket. Align the offset pins on the bulb base with the slots in the socket. Press the bulb in gently and rotate clockwise until it locks into place. Ensure the bulb is firmly seated.

   Reinstall the bulb socket
   Insert the socket assembly back into the headlight housing, aligning the tabs on the socket with the slots in the housing. Rotate the socket clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks securely in place.

Reassembly

1. Ensure the bulb socket is fully seated and locked into the headlight housing
2. Close hood

Verification

• Turn ignition to ON position without starting engine
• Activate the turn signal on the replaced side and verify the front turn signal blinks at normal rate (approximately 60-90 flashes per minute)
• Activate hazard lights and verify both front turn signals operate correctly
• Visually inspect from outside the vehicle that the turn signal illuminates amber and is not dim or flickering
