Preparation
- Confirm vehicle has Electric Power Steering (EPS) by checking under hood - no power steering fluid reservoir should be present
- If power steering concerns exist, refer to Electric Power Steering Motor or Steering Column Module procedures instead
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 2 minutes before any electrical work on steering system
Procedure

There will be no power steering fluid reservoir, no hydraulic pump on the engine, and no power steering pulley. The EPS motor is integrated into the steering column or rack assembly.
- 2Consult Appropriate Repair ProcedureSince this vehicle does not have a power steering pump pulley, refer to the Electric Power Steering Motor replacement procedure if steering assistance is inoperative, or Steering Column Module procedure if electrical faults are present. Use a diagnostic scan tool to retrieve any steering system fault codes.
Reassembly
- This procedure does not apply to vehicles with Electric Power Steering (EPS)
- For EPS-related repairs, consult vehicle-specific EPS motor or module replacement procedures
- Always reconnect battery negative terminal and perform steering angle sensor calibration after any EPS service
Verification
- N/A - This vehicle does not have a power steering pump pulley
- For EPS system verification: Start engine, turn steering wheel lock-to-lock and verify smooth power assist operation
- Check for any warning lights on instrument cluster related to power steering
- Use scan tool to verify no EPS-related fault codes are present
