Complete 60,000 mile scheduled maintenance service including oil change, filter replacements, fluid inspections, and component checks specific to the 1.5L turbocharged engine.
Warnings
⚠️Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always use jack stands rated for the vehicle weight.
⚠Engine oil and components may be hot if engine was recently running. Allow 30+ minutes cooling time.
⚠The turbocharger reaches extremely high temperatures. Avoid contact with turbo and exhaust components even after cooling period.
ℹ️Using non-Honda 0W-20 oil or incorrect viscosity may affect turbocharger longevity and fuel economy.

Parts
- Engine oil filter × 1 — 15400-RTA-003 or equivalent
- Oil drain plug crush washer × 1 — 94109-20700
- Engine air filter × 1 — 17220-5AA-A00
- Cabin air filter × 1 — 80292-TBA-A11
Fluids
- Honda Genuine 0W-20 Engine Oil — 4 qt
- DOT 3 Brake Fluid — 0.5 qt
- Windshield Washer Fluid — 1 qt
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Ensure engine is cool to the touch (wait at least 30 minutes after last operation)
- Gather all tools, parts, and fluids before beginning
- Verify you have the correct 0W-20 oil specification required for the turbocharged engine
Procedure
- 1Raise and secure vehicleLoosen all wheel lug nuts 1/4 turn while vehicle is on ground. Raise front of vehicle with floor jack at designated front jacking point. Install jack stands under frame rails behind front wheels. Lower vehicle onto stands. Remove front wheels completely.
- 2Drain engine oilLocate oil drain plug on bottom of oil pan toward rear of engine. Position drain pan underneath. Remove drain plug with 17mm socket and allow oil to drain completely (approximately 5-7 minutes). Inspect old crush washer and discard. Clean drain plug threads and seating surface.⚠Oil may still be warm. Wear gloves to avoid skin contact with used engine oil.
- 3Replace oil filterLocate oil filter on front driver side of engine block. Position drain pan underneath filter area. Use oil filter wrench to remove old filter by turning counterclockwise. Clean filter mounting surface on engine block. Apply thin film of clean oil to new filter gasket. Install new filter hand-tight, then add 3/4 turn after gasket contacts mounting surface. Do not over-tighten.
- 4Install drain plug and refill engine oilInstall NEW crush washer on drain plug. Install drain plug and torque to specification using torque wrench. Lower vehicle to ground temporarily for oil fill access. Remove oil fill cap on top of engine. Using funnel, pour in 3.5 quarts of Honda Genuine 0W-20 oil initially. Wait 2 minutes, then check dipstick. Add remaining oil in small increments until level reaches upper mark on dipstick. Install oil fill cap.ℹ️Always use a new crush washer. Reusing old washers can cause leaks.
- 5Replace engine air filterOpen hood and locate air box on driver side of engine bay. Release 4 metal clips securing air box cover. Lift cover and remove old air filter element. Inspect air box housing for debris and clean if necessary. Install new air filter with pleats oriented correctly (arrows on filter show airflow direction). Reinstall air box cover and secure all 4 clips.
- 6Replace cabin air filterOpen glove box and remove contents. Press inward on both sides of glove box to release stops and lower completely. Locate cabin air filter cover behind glove box. Press tabs and remove cover. Slide out old cabin air filter noting orientation arrows. Vacuum out debris from housing. Install new filter matching airflow direction arrows. Reinstall cover and glove box.
- 7Inspect brake systemWith wheels removed, visually inspect brake pads through caliper opening. Front pads should have minimum 4mm thickness, rear 3mm. Check brake rotors for scoring, cracks, or excessive rust. Inspect brake hoses for cracks, bulging, or fluid leaks. Check brake fluid reservoir under hood - fluid should be between MIN and MAX marks and clear amber color, not dark brown.ℹ️Dark brown brake fluid indicates moisture contamination. Consider brake fluid exchange if more than 3 years old.
- 8Inspect drive belt and tensionerFrom top of engine compartment, inspect serpentine belt for cracks, glazing, fraying, or missing ribs. Check belt tensioner for smooth operation and proper spring tension. Look for oil contamination on belt which may indicate leaks from turbo oil feed/return lines or valve cover. Belt should have approximately 5-7mm deflection under moderate thumb pressure at longest span.
- 9Check fluid levels and conditionCheck coolant level in overflow tank (should be at MAX mark when cold). Inspect coolant color - should be blue. Check transmission fluid level with engine cold (small dipstick near firewall) - fluid should be pink/red, not brown. Top off windshield washer fluid reservoir. Verify power steering is electric (no fluid to check).⚠Never open radiator cap on turbo engines when warm - cooling system operates at higher pressure than non-turbo models.
- 10Inspect undercarriage componentsWhile vehicle is raised, inspect CV axle boots for tears or grease leaks. Check exhaust system for rust, damage, or loose hangers. Inspect front and rear suspension components for wear or damage. Look for fluid leaks from engine, transmission, or differential. Check turbo heat shield security and condition.
- 11Reinstall wheels and perform final checksReinstall front wheels onto hubs. Start all lug nuts by hand. Raise vehicle slightly and remove jack stands. Lower vehicle to ground. Torque lug nuts to specification in star pattern using torque wrench. Check and adjust tire pressure to specification on driver door jamb sticker (typically 32-33 PSI cold).
- 12Start engine and verify oil pressureStart engine and verify oil pressure light extinguishes within 2-3 seconds. Allow engine to idle for 2 minutes. Shut off engine and wait 2 minutes. Recheck oil level on dipstick and top off if needed. Inspect underneath vehicle for oil leaks at drain plug and filter. Check for any new warning lights on instrument cluster.
Reassembly
- Ensure all air box clips are fully secured to prevent unmetered air entering turbo intake
- Verify oil fill cap is tight to prevent oil vapor leaks
- Double-check wheel lug nuts are torqued in star pattern to prevent rotor warping
- Confirm glove box is properly reinstalled after cabin filter replacement
Verification
- Oil level on dipstick shows between lower and upper marks when checked on level ground with engine off for 2+ minutes
- No oil leaks visible under vehicle after test drive
- Engine starts normally and oil pressure light extinguishes immediately
- No new warning lights on instrument cluster
- Brake pedal feels firm with no change in pedal height or travel
- All wheels properly torqued and tire pressures correct
- Test drive vehicle and verify normal operation, smooth acceleration, and no unusual noises from engine or turbocharger
