Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level, solid surface and engage parking brake firmly
  2. Place wheel chocks in front of both front wheels
  3. Open hood and locate brake fluid reservoir - check fluid level and condition
  4. If brake fluid is dark or contaminated, plan for full system flush after rotor replacement
  5. Loosen rear wheel lug nuts 1/4 turn while wheel is still on ground (do not remove)
  6. Lift rear of vehicle using floor jack at designated rear jacking point (reinforced center section)
  7. Place jack stands under rear subframe reinforcement points on both sides

    Remove and support caliper
    Carefully pivot the caliper up and away from the rotor. Do NOT disconnect the brake hose. Suspend the caliper from the suspension or body using wire or a bungee cord, ensuring no tension or weight is placed on the brake hose. Position the caliper where it will not interfere with rotor removal.

    Remove brake pads and hardware

    Use a wire brush to thoroughly clean the hub mounting surface, removing all rust, scale, and debris. Clean the area around the wheel studs. The hub surface must be smooth and flat for proper rotor seating. Wipe clean with brake cleaner or shop towel. Apply a thin coat of anti-seize compound to the hub face if working in corrosive environments.

    Remove protective coating from new rotor with brake cleaner and clean shop towels. Slide new rotor onto hub, aligning the rotor holes with wheel studs.
