Parts

  • Fog light assembly (driver or passenger side as needed) × 1 — Use OEM specification
  • H8 fog light bulb (if not included with assembly) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Allow engine and exhaust components to cool completely
  3. Turn steering wheel to full lock in direction opposite to the side being serviced for improved access
  4. Disconnect battery negative terminal using 10mm wrench
  5. Wait at least 3 minutes after battery disconnect for airbag system discharge

Procedure

  1. 1
    Access the wheel well liner
Turn the front wheel to full lock away from the side being serviced. Locate the plastic push clips and screws securing the front portion of the wheel well liner to the bumper. Remove the necessary fasteners to create access to the fog light assembly from behind.
  2. 2
    Fold back wheel well liner
Carefully pull back the front section of the wheel well liner to expose the rear of the fog light assembly. You should see the fog light housing and electrical connector. Use care not to tear the liner material.
  3. 3
    Disconnect fog light electrical connector
Locate the electrical connector on the back of the fog light assembly. Press the release tab on the connector and pull it straight away from the fog light socket. If the connector is tight, gently wiggle while pulling to release.
  4. 4
    Remove fog light mounting fasteners
Locate the mounting screws or bolts securing the fog light assembly to the bumper (typically 2-3 fasteners). Use the appropriate socket or screwdriver to remove all mounting fasteners. Keep these fasteners organized for reinstallation.
    Torque spec
    Module Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
  5. 5
    Remove fog light assembly
Carefully pull the fog light assembly forward out of the bumper opening. Guide it past any mounting tabs or clips. If resistance is felt, check for any remaining fasteners or clips that may still be engaged. Inspect the removed assembly for damage to mounting tabs or lens.
  6. 6
    Install new fog light assembly
Position the new fog light assembly into the bumper opening, aligning the mounting holes and ensuring any locating tabs are properly seated. Verify the assembly sits flush with the bumper surface before securing.
  7. 7
    Install mounting fasteners
Install all mounting screws or bolts hand-tight first to ensure proper alignment. Once all fasteners are started, torque them to specification in a cross pattern to ensure even seating of the assembly. Verify the fog light sits flush and aligned with the bumper contour.

    Module Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
  8. 8
    Connect electrical connector
Plug the electrical connector into the back of the new fog light assembly until it clicks into place. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is fully seated and locked.
  9. 9
    Reinstall wheel well liner
Position the wheel well liner back into its original location. Reinstall all push clips and screws that were removed. Ensure the liner is properly seated and there are no gaps or loose sections.
  10. 10
    Reconnect battery and test
Reconnect the battery negative terminal and torque to specification. Start the vehicle and turn on the fog lights to verify proper operation of the new assembly. Check for proper beam pattern and ensure there is no flickering.
    Torque spec
    Battery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all wheel well liner fasteners are securely installed to prevent rattles or wind noise
  2. Verify fog light assembly is properly aligned with opposite side for symmetrical appearance
  3. Return steering wheel to center position after work is complete

Verification

  • Turn on fog lights and verify both sides illuminate with same brightness
  • Visually inspect fog light assembly alignment with bumper and opposite side
  • Check that electrical connector is fully seated and locked
  • Verify wheel well liner is secure with no loose fasteners
  • Test drive vehicle and confirm no rattles or abnormal sounds from front bumper area
