Parts

  • H8 or H11 fog light bulb × 1 — Verify bulb type for specific model year - typically H8 35W

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off all lights
  2. Allow fog lights to cool completely if recently used
  3. Turn steering wheel fully to the side opposite the fog light being replaced for better access
  4. For easier access, consider raising front of vehicle and removing the appropriate inner fender liner clips, or work from underneath

Procedure

  1. 1
    Access fog light assembly
Reach behind the front bumper from underneath or through the wheel well. Locate the fog light housing on the lower bumper. The bulb socket is accessible from the rear of the fog light assembly.
  2. 2
    Disconnect electrical connector
Press the release tab on the electrical connector and pull it straight off the bulb socket. Do not pull on the wires themselves.
  3. 3
    Remove bulb socket
Rotate the bulb socket counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (about 90 degrees) and pull it straight out of the fog light housing.
  4. 4
    Remove old bulb
Pull the old H8/H11 bulb straight out of the socket. If bulb is stuck, gently wiggle while pulling. Dispose of old bulb properly.
  5. 5
    Install new bulb
Using a clean cloth or wearing gloves, handle only the plastic base of the new bulb. Insert the new bulb into the socket ensuring the tabs align with the socket grooves. Push firmly until seated.
  6. 6
    Reinstall bulb socket
Insert the bulb socket back into the fog light housing, aligning the tabs. Rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into place. Tug gently to verify it is secured.
  7. 7
    Reconnect electrical connector
Push the electrical connector onto the bulb socket until it clicks into place. Ensure the connection is secure and the release tab engages.

Reassembly

  1. If inner fender liner was removed, reinstall all clips securely
  2. Lower vehicle if raised and remove jack stands

Verification

  • Turn on fog lights and verify the new bulb illuminates properly
  • Check that the beam pattern is correct and matches the opposite side
  • Ensure the bulb socket is locked securely in the housing
  • Verify no warning lights appear on the instrument cluster
