Balance all four tires on a wheel balancer to eliminate vibration and ensure even tire wear on the 2016-2024 Hyundai Tucson 2.5L I4 AWD.
Warnings
⚠Ensure vehicle is on level ground and properly supported on jack stands before removing wheels.
⚠Never work under a vehicle supported only by a floor jack.
ℹ️Mark wheel positions (LF, RF, LR, RR) before removal to maintain rotation history if applicable.

Parts
- Adhesive wheel weights (assorted) × 1 — Use appropriate weight sizes as needed
- Clip-on wheel weights (assorted) × 1 — Match to wheel rim width
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level, solid surface and engage parking brake
- Ensure tires are cold and note current tire pressures for all four tires
- Loosen all wheel lug nuts approximately one turn while vehicle is on ground
- Lift vehicle at manufacturer-specified jacking points and support on four jack stands
- Remove all wheel lug nuts and remove all four wheels from vehicle
Procedure
- 1Inspect and clean wheel rimInspect the first wheel for bent rims, damage, or excessive runout. Use wire brush to clean the inner and outer bead seating areas of the rim where weights will be applied. Remove any old adhesive residue from previous weights. Check that tire is properly seated on rim.
- 2Mount wheel on balancerSelect the appropriate centering cone for the Tucson's wheel center bore. Mount the wheel securely on the balancer spindle with the outside face outward. Hand-tighten the retention nut to secure wheel, ensuring it is centered and seated flush against the cone.
- 3Input wheel dimensionsEnter the wheel diameter (typically 17, 18, or 19 inches for this model), wheel width, and distance from balancer to weight placement surface into the computerized balancer. Verify these measurements match the actual wheel specifications. The 2016-2024 Tucson typically uses 235/55R19, 235/60R18, or 225/60R17 tire sizes depending on trim level.
- 4Perform initial balance spinLower the balancer hood or safety guard and initiate the spin cycle. Allow the balancer to complete its full measurement cycle without interruption. The machine will indicate the weight amount and position needed for both the inside and outside of the rim.
- 5Apply wheel weightsRotate the wheel by hand to the first position indicated by the balancer (typically marked at 12 o'clock position when stopped). Install the specified weight at the inside barrel position using clip-on or adhesive weights as appropriate for the wheel type. Rotate to the second position and install the outer weight. For alloy wheels, use adhesive weights on the inside barrel; for steel wheels, clip-on weights may be used on the rim flange.
- 6Verify balance and fine-tunePerform a verification spin to confirm the wheel is balanced within acceptable limits (typically less than 0.25 oz imbalance). If the balancer indicates additional correction is needed, add or reposition weights as directed and re-spin until balanced. Remove wheel from balancer once properly balanced.
- 7Repeat for remaining wheelsRepeat steps 1 through 6 for each of the remaining three wheels. Maintain organization by keeping each wheel with its corresponding position marking if wheels were marked during preparation.
- 8Reinstall wheels on vehicleMount each wheel back onto its original hub position if maintaining rotation pattern. Install all lug nuts by hand, threading them on in a star/cross pattern to ensure even seating. Use a torque wrench to tighten lug nuts to specification in a star pattern: tighten each nut partially in sequence, then make a second pass to bring all nuts to full torque specification.Torque specWheel Lug Nuts140 Nm (103 lb-ft)
- 9Lower vehicle and final torque checkCarefully lower vehicle from jack stands back to the ground. With vehicle weight on all four wheels, perform a final torque verification of all lug nuts using torque wrench in star pattern to confirm all are at 140 Nm (103 lb-ft).Torque specWheel Lug Nuts140 Nm (103 lb-ft)
- 10Adjust tire pressuresCheck and adjust tire pressure on all four tires to the specification listed on the driver's door jamb placard (typically 35 PSI for the Tucson). Ensure all valve caps are reinstalled.
Reassembly
- Verify all lug nuts are torqued to 140 Nm (103 lb-ft) in star pattern
- Confirm all valve stem caps are installed
- Store wheel balancing equipment and return wheel weight inventory to proper storage
Verification
- Test drive vehicle at various speeds (25-65 mph) to verify elimination of vibration that was present before balancing
- Verify no steering wheel shake or seat vibration at highway speeds
- Confirm all wheels spin freely without rubbing or unusual noise
- Re-check lug nut torque after first 50-100 miles of driving
