Parts

  • Windshield washer pump × 1 — 98510-D3000 or equivalent
  • Washer reservoir grommet (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Fluids

  • Windshield Washer Fluid — 3.5 qt

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Allow engine to cool if recently driven
  3. Empty washer reservoir by operating windshield washer until reservoir is mostly empty (reduces spillage)
  4. Gather all tools and new washer pump before beginning

Procedure

  1. 1
    Access the engine compartment
Open the hood and secure it with the hood prop. The washer reservoir is located on the driver's side of the engine bay, near the front fender.
  2. 2
    Remove the reservoir filler neck
Gently pull upward on the washer fluid filler neck to remove it from the reservoir. It is held in place by a friction fit grommet. Set it aside in a clean area.
  3. 3
    Disconnect the electrical connector
Locate the washer pump electrical connector at the bottom of the reservoir. Press the locking tab and pull the connector straight off the pump. Do not pull on the wiring harness.
  4. 4
    Disconnect the washer hose
Using a flat-blade screwdriver if necessary, carefully pry the washer hose off the pump outlet fitting. Position your drain pan below the pump area as remaining fluid will drain from both the hose and reservoir.
  5. 5
    Remove the washer pump
Grasp the pump body firmly and rotate it counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn while pulling outward. The pump is held in the reservoir by a bayonet-style mounting. Once rotated, pull the pump straight out of the reservoir grommet. Allow remaining fluid to drain into your pan.
  6. 6
    Inspect the reservoir grommet
Examine the rubber grommet in the reservoir where the pump mounts. Check for cracks, tears, or deterioration. If damaged, carefully pry out the old grommet and press a new one into place ensuring it seats fully in the reservoir opening.
  7. 7
    Install the new washer pump
Lubricate the new pump's rubber seal with a small amount of washer fluid. Insert the pump into the reservoir grommet and rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into the bayonet mount. Ensure the pump is fully seated and secure.
  8. 8
Reconnect the washer hose and electrical connector
Push the washer hose firmly onto the pump outlet until it is fully seated (you should feel it click or bottom out). Reconnect the electrical connector to the pump, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.
  9. 9
    Refill the washer reservoir
Reinstall the filler neck by pressing it into the reservoir grommet. Fill the reservoir with windshield washer fluid to the MAX line (approximately 3.5 quarts total capacity). Check underneath the vehicle for any leaks from the pump seal.
  10. 10
    Test washer pump operation
Turn the ignition to the ON position (engine does not need to run). Operate the windshield washer control and verify that fluid sprays properly from both nozzles with adequate pressure. Check for leaks at the pump mounting point and hose connection during operation.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all electrical connections are fully secured with locking tabs engaged
  2. Verify washer hose is firmly attached to pump outlet with no gaps
  3. Confirm filler neck is properly seated in reservoir grommet
  4. Wipe up any spilled washer fluid from engine bay components

Verification

  • Operate windshield washer system and confirm strong, even spray pattern from both nozzles
  • Inspect pump mounting area and hose connections for leaks while system is operating
  • Check that washer fluid level remains stable after testing (no leaks at pump seal)
  • Verify no unusual noises from pump during operation
