Complete replacement of all three engine mounts (left, right, and rear) on the 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine, requiring engine support and partial drivetrain component removal.
Warnings
⚠️Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always use jack stands rated for the vehicle weight.
⚠️Ensure engine is properly supported before removing any mount bolts. Engine can shift unexpectedly causing crush injuries.
⚠Perform this work on a cool engine to avoid burn injuries from exhaust components and engine surfaces.
⚠Engine mounts are under load. Do not place hands or body parts between engine and frame during removal or installation.

Parts
- Left engine mount × 1 — Mopar 68089898AB or equivalent
- Right engine mount × 1 — Mopar 68089899AB or equivalent
- Rear engine mount × 1 — Mopar 68089897AB or equivalent
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and set parking brake
- Disconnect negative battery cable
- Raise vehicle and support securely on jack stands at frame rails
- Remove engine skid plate if equipped
- Spray all mount bolts with penetrating oil and allow to soak for 15-20 minutes
- Position engine support fixture across engine bay or place hydraulic jack with wood block under oil pan to support engine weight
Procedure
- 1Support engine weightUsing the engine support fixture or hydraulic jack under the oil pan (with wood block to distribute load), raise engine slightly to take load off the mounts. Lift only enough to unload the mounts - approximately 1/4 inch. Ensure support is stable and will not shift during work.
- 2Remove right engine mountFrom the right side of the engine bay, locate the right engine mount. Remove the mount through bolt that passes horizontally through the mount bracket and frame mount. Remove the mounting bolts that secure the mount bracket to the engine block (typically 3 bolts). Remove the mount-to-frame bolts securing the frame-side bracket. Extract the mount assembly.Torque specMount Through Bolt101 Nm (75 lb-ft)Mounting Bolts54 Nm (40 lb-ft)Mount-to-Frame Bolts70 Nm (52 lb-ft)
- 3Remove left engine mountFrom the left side of the engine bay, locate the left engine mount. Remove the mount through bolt that passes through the mount and frame bracket. Remove the mounting bolts securing the mount bracket to the engine block. Remove the mount-to-frame bolts. You may need to slightly adjust engine position with the support to create clearance for removal. Extract the mount assembly.Torque specMount Through Bolt101 Nm (75 lb-ft)Mounting Bolts54 Nm (40 lb-ft)Mount-to-Frame Bolts70 Nm (52 lb-ft)
- 4Access rear engine mountThe rear mount is located at the transmission bell housing area. Access is from underneath the vehicle. You may need to remove the transmission crossmember or lower it for better access depending on specific model year. Locate the rear mount between the transmission and crossmember.⚠If lowering crossmember, ensure transmission is independently supported to prevent it from dropping unexpectedly.
- 5Remove rear engine mountRemove the mount through bolt connecting the mount to the crossmember or frame bracket. Remove the mounting bolts securing the mount to the transmission bell housing. If applicable, remove mount-to-frame bolts. The mount may be stuck due to weight and age - use a pry bar carefully to break it free if necessary. Extract the rear mount.Torque specMount Through Bolt101 Nm (75 lb-ft)Mounting Bolts54 Nm (40 lb-ft)Mount-to-Frame Bolts70 Nm (52 lb-ft)
- 6Clean mounting surfacesWith all mounts removed, thoroughly clean all mounting surfaces on the engine block, transmission, and frame brackets. Remove any rust, debris, or old rubber residue. Inspect frame brackets for cracks or damage. Ensure all threaded holes are clean and free of debris.
- 7Install new rear engine mountPosition the new rear mount to the transmission bell housing and install mounting bolts finger-tight. Align the mount with the crossmember or frame bracket and install the through bolt finger-tight. Once all bolts are started, torque the mounting bolts to specification first, then torque the through bolt and any frame bolts to specification.Torque specMounting Bolts54 Nm (40 lb-ft)Mount Through Bolt101 Nm (75 lb-ft)Mount-to-Frame Bolts70 Nm (52 lb-ft)
- 8Install new left engine mountPosition the new left mount bracket to the engine block and install mounting bolts finger-tight. If the frame-side bracket was removed, install it first with mount-to-frame bolts finger-tight. Align the mount and install the through bolt finger-tight. Adjust engine position slightly with support if needed for alignment. - 10Lower engine and remove supportCarefully lower the engine using the support fixture or hydraulic jack until the engine weight is fully resting on the new mounts. Ensure all mounts are properly seated and aligned. Remove the engine support equipment.
- 11Reinstall components and lower vehicleReinstall the transmission crossmember if it was lowered or removed. Reinstall the engine skid plate if equipped. Reconnect the negative battery cable. Remove jack stands and lower the vehicle to the ground.
Reassembly
- Verify all mount bolts are torqued to specification
- Ensure no tools or parts were left in the engine bay
- Confirm all electrical connections are secure if any were disturbed
- Double-check that engine support equipment has been completely removed
Verification
- Start the engine and observe for excessive vibration or unusual movement
- With engine running, shift through all transmission gears (foot on brake) and verify smooth operation without excessive engine movement
- Turn engine off and visually inspect all three mounts for proper seating and alignment
- Check for any contact between engine/transmission and frame rails
- Test drive vehicle and verify reduced vibration compared to old mounts, smooth acceleration, and no clunking when shifting or starting
