Parts

  • Power mirror motor assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification for side being replaced
  • Door panel retaining clips (assorted) × 1 — Mopar 68041116AA or equivalent

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and set parking brake
  2. Disconnect negative battery terminal and secure away from battery post
  3. Allow at least 2 minutes after battery disconnect for airbag system capacitors to discharge
  4. Roll window fully down to prevent glass damage during door panel removal

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove door panel screws
Using T30 Torx driver, remove the two door panel mounting screws located at the bottom of the armrest pull cup. Using T20 Torx driver, remove screw from door latch bezel area. On models with power windows/locks, remove small access cover behind door handle and remove screw underneath.
  2. 2
    Disconnect door panel electrical connectors
Press release tabs and disconnect all electrical connectors accessible from door handle area, including power window switch, power lock switch, and any courtesy lamp connectors. Gently pull connectors through door panel openings as panel is removed.
  3. 3
    Release door panel retaining clips
Using panel removal tools, carefully pry around perimeter of door panel starting at bottom rear corner. Work around edges releasing approximately 8-10 plastic retaining clips. Pull panel outward with steady pressure to disengage clips. Lift panel upward to release from window sill channel, then remove from door.
  4. 4
    Remove water barrier access
Carefully peel back lower corner of plastic water barrier sheet where mirror mounting area is located. Only fold back enough to access mirror mounting bolts and connector. Use care not to tear barrier material.
  5. 5
    Disconnect mirror electrical connector
Locate mirror wiring harness connector behind door panel area. Press connector release tab and pull connector apart. On heated mirror models, there will be two connectors (motor and heater). Disconnect both connectors.
  6. 6
    Remove mirror mounting bolts
Using 10mm socket with extension, remove three mirror mounting bolts accessible from inside door frame. Support mirror assembly from outside with other hand to prevent dropping. Carefully pull mirror assembly outward from door, feeding wiring harness through door opening.

    Install replacement mirror assembly
Feed new mirror wiring harness through door opening from outside. Align mirror base with three mounting holes on door frame. Install three mounting bolts hand-tight, then torque to specification in star pattern to ensure even seating. Verify mirror sits flush against door surface.

    Reconnect electrical connectors
Connect mirror electrical connector(s) until release tabs click into locked position. Verify connections are secure by gently pulling on connectors. On heated mirror models, ensure both motor and heater connectors are properly seated.
  9. 9
    Test mirror operation before reassembly
Reconnect negative battery terminal temporarily. Turn ignition to RUN position. Test mirror adjustment in all directions (up, down, left, right) using mirror control switch. If equipped, test mirror heat function. Disconnect battery again before continuing reassembly.

  10. 10
Reinstall water barrier and door panel
Press water barrier sheet back into place, ensuring complete adhesion around mirror area. Reconnect all door panel electrical connectors. Align door panel with window sill channel and slide downward to engage. Press firmly around perimeter to seat all retaining clips. Install all door panel screws and torque connector screws if applicable.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all door panel clips are fully seated by pressing firmly around entire perimeter
  2. Verify door panel screws are tightened but not over-torqued to prevent cracking plastic
  3. Test window operation to ensure no interference with door panel installation
  4. Reconnect negative battery terminal and torque to specification

Verification

  • With ignition in RUN position, test mirror adjustment in all four directions using control switch
  • Verify mirror holds position after adjustment and does not drift
  • On heated mirror models, verify mirror heat activates with rear defrost button
  • Confirm no electrical warning lights on instrument cluster
  • Check mirror glass for proper seating and no rattles
  • Verify door panel is secure with no gaps or loose clips
