Parts

  • Power mirror motor assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
  • Door trim panel clips (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Disconnect 12V battery negative terminal and wait 2 minutes for system capacitors to discharge
  3. Lower all windows to prevent accidental operation during repair
  4. Cover door with protective cloth to prevent scratches during trim panel removal

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove door trim panel
Use trim panel removal tool to release the lower edge clips of the door trim panel. Starting at the bottom rear corner, work around the perimeter releasing all clips. Once clips are released, lift panel upward to disengage from upper door frame ledge. Disconnect door handle cable and any electrical connectors behind panel before fully removing.
  2. 2
    Remove door speaker assembly
Locate the door speaker assembly in the upper forward section of the door. Remove three T25 Torx screws securing speaker bracket to door frame. Disconnect speaker electrical connector and remove speaker assembly to access mirror mounting area.
  3. 3
    Access mirror mounting area
Peel back the weather barrier film at the upper forward corner of the door to expose the mirror mounting nuts and wiring harness. Use caution not to tear the adhesive barrier as it must be resealed. The mirror wiring harness passes through a grommet in the door frame near the hinge area.
  4. 4
    Disconnect mirror electrical connector
Locate the mirror wiring harness connector inside the door cavity. Press the connector release tab and disconnect the mirror harness. Note the routing of the harness for reinstallation. On EDV models, the mirror includes integrated turn signals and puddle lamps requiring a multi-pin connector.
  5. 5
    Remove mirror assembly from door
While supporting the mirror housing from outside the vehicle, remove the three 10mm nuts securing the mirror base to the door frame. Carefully pull the mirror assembly away from the door, threading the wiring harness through the grommet. Have an assistant support the mirror to prevent dropping.
  6. 6
Remove mirror glass and housing cover
Place mirror assembly on a clean padded surface with glass facing up. Gently press the mirror glass toward the motor side to release the clips. Once movement is felt, carefully pull glass away from housing. The glass is connected with spring clips - do not pry excessively. Remove the T20 Torx screws securing the rear mirror housing cover and separate cover from main housing.
  7. 7
    Remove power mirror motor
With housing cover removed, locate the mirror motor assembly secured to the mirror base plate. Disconnect the internal motor connector if present. Remove three T20 Torx screws securing the motor to the base plate. The motor is attached to the mirror adjustment mechanism - note the orientation of gears and linkage before removal for proper reassembly.
  8. 8
    Install new power mirror motor
Position the new mirror motor onto the base plate, ensuring the drive gears properly engage with the mirror adjustment mechanism. The motor will only fit in one orientation. Install three T20 Torx screws to secure motor to base plate. Connect internal motor connector if applicable. Verify motor gears move freely without binding.
  9. 9
    Reassemble mirror housing
Position the rear housing cover onto the mirror base and install T20 Torx screws. Carefully align the mirror glass clips with the housing receptacles and press glass firmly into place until clips engage. The glass should be secure with no excessive play.
  10. 10
    Install mirror assembly to door
Thread the mirror wiring harness through the door frame grommet from outside. Align the three mirror mounting studs with holes in door frame and push mirror base flush against door. From inside the door, install the three 10mm nuts onto mounting studs. Ensure mirror is properly seated before fully tightening nuts.
  11. 11
Connect electrical and test mirror operation
Connect the mirror wiring harness to the door harness connector, ensuring it clicks into place. Reconnect the 12V battery. Before reinstalling door trim, turn ignition to ON position and test all mirror functions: up/down/left/right adjustment, power folding if equipped, turn signal operation, and puddle lamp operation. Verify smooth motor operation without binding or noise.

Reassembly

  1. Press weather barrier film back into place, ensuring complete adhesion around all edges to maintain water seal
  2. Reinstall door speaker assembly with three T25 Torx screws and reconnect speaker connector
  3. Reconnect door handle cable and any door trim panel electrical connectors
  4. Align door trim panel clips with door holes and press firmly around perimeter until all clips engage
  5. Test window operation and door handle function to verify no interference from trim panel installation

Verification

  • Test all mirror adjustment directions (up, down, left, right) for smooth operation without hesitation or noise
  • Verify mirror power fold function operates correctly if equipped
  • Confirm turn signal indicator and puddle lamp illuminate properly
  • Check mirror glass is securely retained and does not vibrate excessively during door closure
  • Verify no electrical fault codes are present in vehicle system using diagnostic scan tool
  • Test mirror memory positions if vehicle is equipped with memory seat/mirror function
