Replace the exterior side mirror assembly on a 2024 Cybertruck. The mirrors are heated and power-adjusting with integrated turn signal and camera; care must be taken with the stainless exoskeleton trim and the 48V low-voltage electrical connector.

Warnings

⚠️Cybertruck uses a 48V low-voltage architecture — NOT 12V. Connectors, fuses, and accessories are not interchangeable with other Teslas. Disconnect the LV battery before unplugging the mirror harness to avoid short-circuit arcing.
Stainless steel exoskeleton panels scratch and dent easily and CANNOT be repaired like aluminum/steel body panels. Pad all surfaces around the mirror base before prying or leveraging.
Mirror houses a side camera used by Autopilot/Full Self-Driving. After installation, a camera calibration drive may be required for those features to function correctly.
ℹ️Do not pull on the mirror harness — release the connector lock first. 48V connectors are typically keyed and require a deliberate tab press.

Parts

  • Cybertruck side mirror assembly (LH or RH as required) × 1 — OEM Tesla Cybertruck mirror assembly — order by side and trim
  • Replacement fasteners / clips if damaged on removal × 1 — OEM-spec mirror mounting hardware

Preparation

  1. Park on level ground, place in P, engage the parking brake.
  2. Exit ALL doors with the key fob away from the vehicle. Wait at least 2 minutes for HV systems to fully de-energize, even on this non-HV job.
  3. Disconnect the 48V low-voltage battery per Tesla Cybertruck procedure (note: this is 48V, not 12V — observe correct terminal sequence and isolate before tool contact).
  4. DO NOT touch, cut, or pierce ANY orange cable — these are high-voltage and lethal on the 800V Cybertruck pack.
  5. If at any point you encounter an orange cable, an HV component, or are unsure if a system is de-energized: STOP and consult a Tesla-certified technician.
  6. Lower the window fully on the affected side to gain access to the inner mirror trim area.
  7. Place soft padding (microfiber + foam) on the door top, A-pillar stainless, and outer door skin to protect from tool slips.
  8. Identify whether the replacement mirror is pre-painted/finished correctly and matches side (LH/RH), heater, signal, and camera options.

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove inner mirror trim cover
From inside the cabin with the door open, gently release the interior triangular trim cover at the base of the mirror using a plastic pry tool. Work around the perimeter to release retaining clips. Set the cover aside on a padded surface.
Clips can be brittle in cold weather — warm the area or work slowly to avoid breakage.
  2. 2
    Access the mirror electrical connector
With the inner trim removed, locate the mirror wiring harness connector. Press the connector locking tab and separate the connector by hand. Do not pull on the wires.
Cybertruck uses 48V LV — confirm the LV battery is disconnected before unmating the connector.
  3. 3
    Release any secondary retainers
Check for and release any harness clips, foam seals, or secondary water-shield grommets routing the harness through the door/A-pillar interface. Feed the harness so it will pass cleanly out with the mirror.
  4. 4
    Support the mirror assembly
Have an assistant support the mirror from the outside, OR brace it against padded support, so it does not fall once the mounting fasteners are loosened.
A dropping mirror can scratch or dent the stainless door panel — stainless damage is not field-repairable.
  5. 5
    Remove mirror mounting fasteners
From inside the mirror mounting pocket, remove the manufacturer-specified mirror mounting fasteners (typically 3 fasteners securing the mirror base to the door structure). Retain hardware for reuse unless damaged.
    Torque spec
    Bracket Bolts20 Nm (15 lb-ft)
  6. 6
    Remove mirror assembly from vehicle
Carefully lift the mirror assembly outward and away from the door, simultaneously feeding the harness and connector through the grommet/pass-through. Place the old mirror on a padded surface.
  7. 7
    Transfer any reusable components
If the replacement assembly does not include them, transfer over reusable items (gaskets, foam seal, harness grommet, finishing trim) from the old mirror per Tesla Service Manual guidance.
  8. 8
    Install new mirror assembly
Feed the new mirror's harness and connector through the door pass-through. Seat the mirror base squarely against the mounting surface, ensuring the gasket/seal is not pinched or rolled.
A pinched seal will cause water intrusion into the door cavity and harness corrosion.
  9. 9
    Torque mounting fasteners
Install the mounting fasteners and torque to specification in a cross-pattern. Verify the mirror sits flush with no gap or rocking.

    Bracket Bolts20 Nm (15 lb-ft)
  10. 10
    Reconnect electrical connector
Mate the harness connector firmly until the lock tab clicks. Re-seat any harness clips, grommets, and water shield. Confirm the harness is not pinched between trim and metal.
  11. 11
    Reinstall inner trim cover
Align the interior trim cover and press evenly around the perimeter to engage all clips. Verify flush fit with surrounding trim.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all interior trim is fully seated with no gaps.
  2. Reconnect the 48V low-voltage battery using the correct Cybertruck reconnection sequence and torque the battery terminal bolts to spec.
  3. Close the door and verify weatherstrip seating around the mirror base.

Verification

  • Power on the vehicle and test mirror power adjust (up/down/in/out) on both axes.
  • Test mirror heater by activating defrost — mirror glass should warm within a couple of minutes.
  • Test the integrated turn signal indicator (if equipped) by activating each turn signal.
  • From the touchscreen camera view, confirm the side/repeater camera image is present, correctly oriented, and not blurred or offset.
  • Drive the vehicle in a well-lit area to allow Autopilot/FSD camera self-calibration; if a calibration alert appears on the touchscreen, complete the calibration drive per on-screen instructions.
  • Spray-test the mirror base with low-pressure water and check the inside of the door trim for any leakage.
  • Confirm no new vehicle alerts are present on the touchscreen after the LV battery reconnect.
