Replace the windshield washer fluid pump on a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck Dual Motor. The pump is mounted to the washer fluid reservoir; access is from the front of the vehicle.

Warnings

⚠️Cybertruck uses a 48V low-voltage architecture, NOT 12V. Use insulated tools when disconnecting the LV battery — 48V DC can arc and cause burns.
⚠️Do NOT touch, cut, or pierce any orange cable. The Cybertruck HV system is 800V and lethal.
The stainless steel exoskeleton panels are unforgiving — do not pry against painted/finished trim with metal tools. Use plastic trim tools only.
Have a drain pan ready before pulling the pump — residual washer fluid will leak from the reservoir port.
ℹ️Steer-by-wire system: do not rotate the yoke with the LV battery disconnected and reconnected repeatedly without allowing the system to re-initialize.

Tools required

Trim/panel removal tool setEssential
Insulated socket set (for 48V LV battery disconnect)Essential
Drain pan (minimum 4 qt capacity)Essential
Shop towels / absorbent rags
Needle-nose pliers (for hose clamp, if equipped)

Parts

  • Washer fluid pump assembly (Cybertruck-specific) × 1 — OEM Tesla Cybertruck washer pump — verify part by VIN
  • Washer pump grommet/seal × 1 — OEM grommet — typically supplied with new pump; replace if torn

Fluids

  • Windshield Washer Fluid — 3.5 qt

Preparation

  1. Park on level ground, place in P, engage parking brake.
  2. Exit ALL doors with the key fob away from the vehicle. Wait at least 2 minutes for HV systems to fully de-energize, even on this non-HV job.
  3. Disconnect the 48V low-voltage battery (Cybertruck uses 48V — NOT 12V). Locate the LV battery per Tesla service documentation and use insulated tools.
  4. DO NOT touch, cut, or pierce ANY orange cable — these are high-voltage and lethal.
  5. If at any point you encounter an orange cable, an HV component, or are unsure if a system is de-energized: STOP and consult a Tesla-certified technician.
  6. Confirm washer reservoir is as empty as practical — operate washer spray until pump runs dry, or siphon fluid out via the fill neck to minimize spillage.
  7. Identify washer reservoir location and pump access point (typically accessed from the front wheel well or under the front trunk liner on Cybertruck).
  8. Stage a drain pan and absorbent towels directly beneath the pump.

Procedure

  1. 1
    Access the washer reservoir
Remove the necessary front trunk liner panels and/or front wheel well liner fasteners to expose the washer fluid reservoir and pump. Use plastic trim tools to release push-pin retainers. Set fasteners aside in order of removal.
  2. 2
    Locate the washer pump
Identify the washer pump on the side or bottom of the reservoir. It will have a small electrical connector and one or two outlet hoses (windshield, and possibly headlight/camera washer if equipped).
  3. 3
    Disconnect electrical connector
Depress the locking tab on the pump's electrical connector and pull straight off. Inspect the connector for corrosion or moisture intrusion; address if found.
  4. 4
    Disconnect washer hose(s)
Position drain pan beneath the pump. Carefully pull the washer hose(s) off the pump outlet barb(s). If a clamp is present, release it with pliers first. Expect residual fluid to drain.
Hoses become brittle with age — support the hose at the barb to avoid splitting it during removal.
  5. 5
Remove the pump from the reservoir
Grasp the pump body and pull straight outward with a slight twisting motion to release it from the rubber grommet in the reservoir. Remaining fluid will drain — keep pan in place.
  6. 6
    Inspect and replace grommet
Inspect the rubber grommet in the reservoir port. If torn, swollen, or hardened, replace it. A failed grommet will leak after reassembly.
  7. 7
    Install new pump
Lubricate the new grommet lightly with fresh washer fluid (do not use petroleum lubricants — they degrade rubber). Press the new pump squarely into the grommet until fully seated. Do not rock side-to-side aggressively.
  8. 8
    Reconnect hose(s) and electrical connector
Reattach washer hose(s) to the correct outlet barb(s). Reinstall any clamps. Reconnect the electrical connector until you hear/feel the locking tab engage.

Reassembly

  1. Refill the washer reservoir with fresh windshield washer fluid (capacity approximately 3.5 qt).
  2. Reinstall front trunk liner and/or wheel well liner panels with original fasteners.
  3. Reconnect the 48V low-voltage battery using insulated tools. Torque battery terminal hardware to specification — refer to Tesla Service Manual for the Cybertruck 48V terminal spec.
  4. Allow the vehicle to wake and complete its self-checks (steer-by-wire, air suspension, and 48V LV systems re-initialize on wake).

Verification

  • Activate the washer spray from the yoke control — confirm steady spray on the windshield with no stutter or air gulp.
  • If equipped with camera/sensor washers, cycle those as well to confirm the secondary circuit (if served by the same pump) operates.
  • Inspect the pump-to-reservoir grommet area and hose connections for leaks after 2-3 spray cycles.
  • Check for any new alerts on the touchscreen related to washer fluid level or system status.
  • Top off washer fluid if level is low after bleeding air from the lines.
