This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the front engine mount on a 2012-2017 Toyota Camry with the 2.5L I4 engine.
Warnings
⚠️Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always use jack stands rated for the vehicle weight.
⚠️The engine must be properly supported during this procedure. Failure to support the engine can result in serious injury or damage to vehicle components.
⚠Ensure the engine is cool before starting work to avoid burns from hot components.
⚠Inspect all engine mounts during this procedure. A failed mount can cause excessive vibration and damage to other mounts.

Parts
- Front engine mount assembly × 1 — 12361-0H051 or equivalent OEM
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Allow engine to cool completely
- Disconnect negative battery terminal
- Raise front of vehicle and support securely on jack stands
- Remove engine under cover if equipped
Procedure
- 1Support the enginePosition a hydraulic jack with a wood block under the oil pan to support the engine weight. Raise the jack until it just contacts the pan with slight pressure, but do not lift the engine. Alternatively, install an engine support fixture from above. The engine must be supported before removing mount bolts.⚠Do not use excessive force when supporting from below. Use a wide wood block to distribute pressure and avoid damaging the oil pan.
- 2Remove front mount through-boltLocate the front engine mount on the passenger side of the engine. Remove the through-bolt that passes horizontally through the mount assembly. This bolt secures the engine bracket to the mount insulator. You may need to use a breaker bar as this bolt is often tight.Torque specThrough-Bolt85 Nm (63 lb-ft)
- 3Remove mount-to-frame boltsFrom underneath the vehicle, locate and remove the bolts securing the lower portion of the engine mount to the frame rail. There are typically two or three bolts on the frame side of the mount bracket.Torque specEngine Mount-to-Frame Bolts75 Nm (55 lb-ft)
- 4Remove engine mount-to-block boltsAccess the upper mounting bolts that secure the engine mount bracket to the engine block. These are typically accessed from above or from the side of the engine compartment. Remove all bolts securing the mount bracket to the engine.Torque specEngine Mount-to-Block Bolts65 Nm (48 lb-ft)
- 5Remove front engine mount assemblyWith all mounting bolts removed, carefully extract the front engine mount assembly from the vehicle. The mount may be stuck due to corrosion or rubber compression. Gently work it free, being careful not to damage surrounding components or wiring harnesses.
- 6Clean mounting surfacesUse a wire brush to clean all mounting surfaces on the engine block and frame rail. Remove any rust, dirt, or old rubber residue. Inspect the mounting points for cracks or damage. Apply penetrating oil to mounting bolt threads and allow to soak if bolts show corrosion.
- 7Position new engine mountPosition the new front engine mount assembly into place. Align the mount bracket with the engine block mounting holes and the lower mount with the frame rail. You may need to adjust the jack height slightly to align all mounting points properly.
- 8Install engine mount-to-block boltsInstall the bolts securing the mount bracket to the engine block. Thread all bolts by hand first to ensure proper alignment, then torque to specification using a torque wrench. Follow a cross-pattern when tightening multiple bolts.Torque specEngine Mount-to-Block Bolts65 Nm (48 lb-ft)
- 9Install mount-to-frame boltsInstall the bolts securing the lower mount bracket to the frame rail. Start all bolts by hand, then torque to specification. Ensure the mount is properly seated against the frame before final torquing.Torque specEngine Mount-to-Frame Bolts75 Nm (55 lb-ft)
- 10Install through-boltInstall the through-bolt that connects the engine bracket to the mount insulator. Ensure the bolt passes through all components properly and is not cross-threaded. Torque to specification.Torque specThrough-Bolt85 Nm (63 lb-ft)
- 11Remove engine support and lower vehicleCarefully lower and remove the hydraulic jack or engine support fixture. Reinstall the engine under cover if equipped. Lower the vehicle from jack stands and remove stands. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
Reassembly
- Ensure all bolts are torqued to specification in the correct sequence
- Verify engine support has been removed before starting vehicle
- Double-check that no tools or parts have been left in the engine compartment
Verification
- Start the engine and allow it to idle. Listen for unusual noises or vibrations
- With the engine running, shift through all transmission gears (foot on brake) and verify smooth operation without excessive engine movement
- Perform a test drive and confirm no abnormal vibrations are present at idle, during acceleration, or when coming to a stop
- Re-inspect all mounting bolts for proper torque after test drive
- Visually inspect the mount area for any signs of contact with surrounding components
