Parts

  • Fog light assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification or aftermarket equivalent
  • H11 fog light bulb × 1 — If not included with assembly
  • Push-type retainer clips × 2 — If damaged during removal

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn off fog lights and ignition, remove key from vehicle
  3. Allow fog light bulbs to cool if recently used
  4. Turn steering wheel fully to the opposite side of the fog light being replaced for improved access

Procedure

  1. 1
    Access the fog light area
From underneath the front bumper, locate the fog light assembly behind the bumper cover. Identify the splash shield or fender liner that provides access to the rear of the fog light housing.
  2. 2
    Remove access panel fasteners
Remove the plastic push-type retainers securing the inner fender liner or splash shield. Typically 2-3 clips secure the access area. Use a flat head screwdriver or trim tool to carefully pry the center pin up, then remove the entire clip. Pull back the liner to expose the fog light assembly from behind.
  3. 3
    Disconnect electrical connector
Reach behind the fog light housing and locate the electrical connector. Press the release tab and pull the connector straight off the fog light bulb or assembly. Do not pull on the wiring itself.
  4. 4
    Remove fog light mounting hardware
Locate the mounting bolt or screw securing the fog light assembly to the bumper bracket. This is typically accessible from behind. Remove the 10mm bolt or Phillips screw holding the assembly in place. On some models, there may be two fasteners.
  5. 5
    Extract fog light assembly
Gently pull the fog light assembly rearward out of the bumper cover opening. The assembly should slide out once the mounting hardware is removed. If resistance is felt, verify all fasteners have been removed and check for any retaining tabs that may need to be pressed.
  6. 6
    Transfer bulb if necessary
If the new fog light assembly does not include a bulb, remove the H11 bulb from the old assembly by rotating the bulb socket counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn and pulling it out. Install into the new assembly by aligning the tabs and rotating clockwise until it locks. Avoid touching the glass portion of the new bulb.
  7. 7
    Install new fog light assembly
Position the new fog light assembly into the bumper cover opening from behind, ensuring proper orientation with the adjustment tabs facing the correct direction. Align the mounting holes with the bracket.
  8. 8
    Secure mounting hardware
Install the mounting bolt or screw through the fog light bracket. Tighten the 10mm bolt securely by hand, then snug with a socket. Do not overtighten as the mounting boss is plastic and can crack. Typical tightness is firm hand-tight.
  9. 9
    Reconnect electrical connector
Plug the electrical connector back onto the fog light assembly, ensuring it clicks into place securely. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is locked.
  10. 10
    Reinstall access panel
Reposition the inner fender liner or splash shield to its original position. Install all push-type retainers by inserting the clip body into the hole, then pressing the center pin down flush until it clicks. Ensure the liner is properly seated and not interfering with any moving components.

Reassembly

  1. Verify all fasteners and clips are properly installed and the fender liner is secure
  2. Return steering wheel to center position
  3. Check that no tools or parts have been left in the wheel well area

Verification

  • Turn ignition to ON position and activate fog lights to verify new assembly functions correctly
  • Visually inspect fog light beam pattern and ensure light is aimed properly
  • Check that fog light lens is clean and properly sealed in the bumper opening
  • Verify no warning lights are illuminated on the instrument cluster
  • Perform a test drive and confirm fog lights operate normally without flickering
