Parts
- H11 fog light bulb × 1 — H11 55W halogen bulb
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and apply parking brake
- Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels
- Turn off fog lights and ignition, remove key
- If bulb was recently used, wait 15 minutes for cooling
- Raise front of vehicle with jack and secure on jack stands, or drive onto ramps for access
- Turn wheels to full lock (away from side being serviced) for improved access if needed
Procedure
- 1Access fog light assembly from underneathPosition yourself under the front bumper on the side with the failed fog light. Locate the fog light assembly behind the bumper cover. The bulb socket is accessible from the rear of the fog light housing without removing the bumper.
- 2Disconnect electrical connectorLocate the electrical connector attached to the back of the fog light bulb socket. Press the release tab on the connector and pull straight back to disconnect it from the bulb socket. Do not pull on the wires themselves.
- 3Remove bulb socket from housingGrasp the bulb socket firmly and rotate it counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it releases from the fog light housing. Pull the socket and bulb straight out of the housing.
- 4Remove old bulb from socketThe H11 bulb is held in the socket by a wire clip or by pulling straight out depending on socket design. If there is a wire retaining clip, press it to release and remove the bulb. If it's a friction fit, pull the bulb straight out of the socket. Inspect the socket for corrosion or damage.
- 5Install new bulbRemove the new H11 bulb from its packaging, handling it only by the plastic base (not the glass). If you accidentally touch the glass, clean it with rubbing alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Insert the new bulb into the socket, ensuring the tabs align properly and the bulb seats fully. Secure with the wire clip if equipped.
- 6Reinstall socket into housingInsert the bulb socket back into the fog light housing, aligning the tabs. Push it in fully and rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into place. Ensure the socket is fully seated and secure.
- 7Reconnect electrical connectorPlug the electrical connector back onto the bulb socket, pushing firmly until you hear or feel it click into place. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is securely attached.
Reassembly
- No disassembly of components was required for this procedure
Verification
- Before lowering vehicle, turn ignition to ON position and activate fog lights to verify new bulb illuminates properly
- Check that fog light beam pattern is correct and consistent with the opposite side
- Lower vehicle from jack stands or ramps
- Perform final fog light function test with vehicle on ground
- Verify no warning lights are illuminated on instrument cluster
