Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and turn off engine

Procedure

   Open fuel door
   Press the fuel door release button located on the lower left side of the driver's footwell, or manually push on the left rear side of the fuel door to open it.

   Remove old fuel cap
   Turn the fuel cap counterclockwise until it releases from the filler neck. The cap is tethered to the fuel door assembly and will remain attached.

   Inspect filler neck seal
   Check the rubber seal on the filler neck for damage, debris, or contamination. Clean with a dry cloth if needed.

   Install new fuel cap
   Align the new cap with the filler neck and turn clockwise until you hear at least 3 distinct clicks. This ensures proper seal engagement and prevents evaporative emissions system codes.

   Close fuel door
   Push the fuel door firmly closed until it latches. Verify it sits flush with the body panel.

Reassembly

Verification

• Test cap by removing and reinstalling, confirming audible clicks during tightening
