This procedure covers removal and replacement of the dashboard speaker in a 2012-2017 Toyota Camry with 2.5L I4 engine.

Parts
- Dashboard speaker × 1 — Use OEM specification or aftermarket equivalent
Preparation
- Ensure ignition is off and key is removed from vehicle
- Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 3 minutes for airbag system to discharge
- Locate the dashboard speaker grille on top of the dashboard near the windshield
Procedure
- 1Remove speaker grille coverInsert a panel removal tool or trim wedge at the edge of the speaker grille. Gently pry upward to release the retaining clips. Work around the perimeter until all clips are disengaged, then lift the grille away from the dashboard.
- 2Access speaker mounting screwsWith the grille removed, you will see the speaker mounted to the dashboard frame. Identify the mounting screws securing the speaker (typically 2-3 screws around the perimeter).
- 3Remove speaker mounting screwsUsing a Phillips screwdriver, remove all mounting screws securing the speaker to the dashboard. Keep screws in a safe place for reinstallation.
- 4Disconnect speaker wiring harnessCarefully lift the speaker up from its mounting location. Locate the electrical connector on the back of the speaker. Press the release tab on the connector and pull to disconnect the wiring harness from the speaker.
- 5Install new speakerConnect the wiring harness to the new speaker by pressing the connector firmly until it clicks into place. Position the new speaker into the mounting location, aligning the screw holes with the dashboard frame.
- 6Secure speaker mounting screwsInstall the mounting screws through the speaker and into the dashboard frame. Tighten screws in a cross pattern to ensure even seating. Do not overtighten as this may crack the speaker housing.
- 7Reinstall speaker grillePosition the speaker grille over the speaker opening, aligning the retaining clips with their receptacles in the dashboard. Press firmly around the perimeter until all clips snap into place and the grille sits flush.
- 8Reconnect batteryReconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten to specification.Torque specBattery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)
Reassembly
- Ensure all trim clips are fully seated and grille is flush with dashboard surface
- Verify no gaps exist between grille and dashboard
Verification
- Turn ignition to ACC or ON position and test audio system
- Play audio through the replaced speaker at various volume levels to confirm proper operation
- Listen for any rattles, distortion, or abnormal sounds from the speaker
- Verify grille is securely attached and does not rattle during test
