Replace the front turn signal bulb by accessing the headlight assembly from the engine compartment and removing the bulb socket.

Warnings

ℹ️Do not touch the glass portion of halogen bulbs with bare fingers as skin oils can cause premature failure
ℹ️This is an electric vehicle - no engine components will be hot unless recently charged or driven

Preparation

  1. Ensure vehicle is parked on level ground with parking brake applied
  2. Turn off all lights and remove key fob from vehicle
  3. Allow headlight assembly to cool for at least 15 minutes if recently used
  4. Open hood and secure with prop rod

Procedure

  1. 1
Locate the turn signal bulb socket
From the engine compartment, locate the headlight assembly on the affected side. The front turn signal socket is positioned at the outer corner of the headlight assembly, typically below the headlight bulb. It will have a gray or black plastic socket with wiring harness attached.
  2. 2
    Remove the bulb socket
Grasp the turn signal bulb socket firmly and rotate it counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (90 degrees) until it releases from the headlight assembly. Pull the socket straight out from the housing. Do not pull on the wiring harness.
  3. 3
    Remove the failed bulb
With the socket removed, press the bulb gently into the socket and rotate counterclockwise to release it from the bayonet mount. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket. Inspect the socket for any corrosion, melting, or damage.
  4. 4
    Install the new bulb
Wearing gloves to avoid touching the glass, align the new amber turn signal bulb pins with the socket slots. Press the bulb gently into the socket and rotate clockwise until it locks into place. Ensure the bulb is fully seated and secure.
  5. 5
    Reinstall the socket assembly
Insert the bulb socket back into the headlight assembly opening, aligning the tabs on the socket with the slots in the housing. Push the socket in fully and rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until it locks into place. Tug gently to verify it is secure.
  6. 6
    Test turn signal operation
Turn the vehicle to the ON position (do not start). Activate the turn signal on the repaired side and verify the bulb illuminates with proper amber color and flashing rate. Check both front and side marker operation.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure bulb socket is fully locked into headlight assembly with no gaps
  2. Verify wiring harness is not pinched or touching hot components
  3. Close hood securely

Verification

  • Turn on the ignition and activate turn signals in both directions to confirm proper operation
  • Walk around vehicle to verify correct flash rate (not hyper-flashing) on both front and side markers
  • Verify turn signal indicator on instrument cluster flashes at normal rate
  • Check that hazard lights function properly with new bulb installed
