Parts

  • Climate control module assembly × 1 — 79600-TBA-A41ZA or equivalent
  • Trim panel clips (if damaged) × 5 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn ignition to OFF position and remove key
  3. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 3 minutes for airbag system to discharge
  4. Set steering wheel to straight-ahead position
  5. Allow interior to cool if vehicle has been running with climate control active

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove lower center trim panel
Using trim removal tools, carefully pry out the lower center console trim panel below the climate control unit. Start at the bottom edges and work upward. Release the retaining clips by pulling gently outward. There are approximately 4-6 clips securing this panel.
  2. 2
    Remove center console side panels
Remove the side trim panels on both sides of the center console. These panels are secured by clips and may require gentle prying from the rear edge forward. Disconnect any electrical connectors for heated seat switches or other controls if equipped.
  3. 3
    Remove radio/infotainment trim bezel
Carefully pry out the trim bezel surrounding the radio and climate control module. Start at the bottom corners and work around the perimeter. This bezel is secured with multiple clips. Be especially careful around the hazard switch area at the top.
  4. 4
Remove climate control module mounting screws
Locate and remove the Phillips head screws securing the climate control module to the dashboard framework. There are typically 4 screws: two on each side of the module. Keep these screws organized for reinstallation.

    Cover Screws10 Nm (8 lb-ft)
  5. 5
    Pull module forward partially
Gently pull the climate control module forward approximately 2-3 inches to access the electrical connectors on the rear. Do not pull too far as the wiring harnesses have limited slack. Use a flashlight to identify the connector locations.
  6. 6
    Disconnect electrical connectors
Disconnect all electrical connectors from the back of the climate control module. There are typically 3 connectors: one large main connector for controls and power, and two smaller connectors. Press the release tabs while pulling the connectors straight back. Note the orientation and position of each connector.
Do not force connectors; ensure release tabs are fully depressed before pulling.
  7. 7
    Remove old climate control module
Once all connectors are detached, pull the climate control module completely out of the dashboard opening. Inspect the mounting area for any debris or loose components before installing the new module.
  8. 8
    Install new climate control module
Position the new climate control module near the dashboard opening. Connect all three electrical connectors to the back of the new module, ensuring each connector clicks into place securely. Verify each connection is fully seated by gently tugging on the connector bodies.
  9. 9
    Secure module with mounting screws
Push the climate control module fully into the dashboard opening, ensuring it sits flush with the surrounding framework. Install the four mounting screws and torque to specification in a cross pattern to ensure even seating.

  10. 10
    Reinstall trim panels
Reinstall the radio/infotainment trim bezel by aligning the clips and pressing firmly around the perimeter until all clips engage. Reinstall the center console side panels and lower center trim panel, ensuring all clips are properly seated and panels sit flush.
  11. 11
    Reconnect battery and initialize system
Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Turn the ignition to ON position without starting the engine. Observe the climate control module display to confirm it illuminates properly. Test all climate control buttons, fan speeds, and temperature controls.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all trim panels are fully seated and clips are engaged before applying pressure
  2. Verify no gaps exist between trim panels and dashboard surfaces
  3. Check that all electrical connectors clicked into place and are not partially seated

Verification

  • Turn ignition to ON and verify climate control display illuminates
  • Test all fan speed settings from low to high
  • Verify temperature adjustment controls respond correctly
  • Test mode selection (defrost, floor, vent, bi-level) and confirm airflow changes
  • Check that A/C compressor engages when A/C button is pressed (listen for click)
  • Verify recirculation button operation
  • Confirm all trim panels are secure with no rattles when tapped lightly
  • Reset clock and radio presets as needed
