Parts
- Front power window motor × 1 — Use OEM specification - Honda part 72250-TBA-A01 (driver) or 72350-TBA-A01 (passenger)
- Door panel clip set × 1 — Use OEM specification - replacement clips as needed
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Roll window to approximately 6 inches from full up position for easiest access
- Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait minimum 3 minutes
- Prepare workspace with panel removal tools and parts tray for fasteners
Procedure
- 1Remove door panel fastenersRemove the Phillips screw from inside the door pull handle recess. Remove the Torx T30 screw behind the door release handle trim. Carefully pry off the triangular speaker grille cover at the front upper corner of the door panel using a trim tool.
- 2Remove window and lock switch assemblyUse a trim tool to carefully pry up the master window switch assembly from the armrest. Disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and pulling straight up. Set the switch assembly aside in a safe location.
- 3Detach door panelStarting at the bottom rear corner, use a panel removal tool to release the retaining clips around the perimeter of the door panel. Work your way around systematically, using gentle outward pressure. There are approximately 8-10 clips total. Once all clips are released, lift the panel up and away from the door frame to disengage the upper lip.
- 4Remove door panel componentsDisconnect the door handle cable by rotating the cable end 90 degrees and pulling it out of the handle mechanism. Disconnect any remaining electrical connectors for courtesy lights or speakers. Remove the door panel completely and set aside on a protected surface.
- 5Peel back vapor barrierCarefully peel back the plastic vapor barrier sheet to access the window regulator and motor assembly. Only remove enough to access the motor mounting bolts - the barrier can remain partially attached. Be careful not to tear the barrier as it provides critical moisture protection.
- 6Secure window glassUse masking tape to secure the window glass to the door frame in its current position. Run tape from the top of the glass to the outer door frame to prevent the glass from dropping when the regulator is disconnected. Verify the glass is stable before proceeding.
- 7Disconnect window motor electrical connectorLocate the window motor electrical connector near the motor housing. Press the release tab and disconnect the connector. Position the connector out of the way to prevent damage during motor removal.
- 8Remove window motor mounting boltsRemove the three 10mm bolts securing the window motor to the regulator assembly. The motor is mounted to the regulator mechanism with the gear engagement facing the regulator. Support the motor while removing the final bolt to prevent it from falling.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 9Extract window motorCarefully work the motor out of the door cavity through the service opening. The motor must be angled and rotated to clear the door frame reinforcements. Take note of the motor orientation and gear position for installation reference.
- 10Install new window motorPosition the new motor into the door cavity, maneuvering it through the service opening in the reverse orientation of removal. Align the motor gear with the regulator mechanism, ensuring proper engagement before installing bolts. The gear teeth must mesh completely with the regulator sector gear.
- 11Secure motor mounting boltsInstall the three 10mm mounting bolts finger-tight first to ensure proper alignment. Torque all three bolts evenly to specification using a torque wrench. Verify the motor sits flush against the regulator bracket with no gaps.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 12Reconnect electrical and testConnect the window motor electrical connector until it clicks into place. Temporarily reconnect the battery negative terminal and test window operation through full up and down travel before reassembling the door. Verify smooth operation with no binding or unusual noise. Disconnect battery again before continuing.Torque specBattery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)
Reassembly
- Reposition the vapor barrier carefully, ensuring all edges are properly sealed to the door frame
- Reconnect the door handle cable by inserting the cable end and rotating 90 degrees to lock
- Connect all electrical connectors for switches, speakers, and courtesy lights
- Align the door panel upper lip with the door frame and press firmly around all clip locations until seated
- Reinstall the window switch assembly, speaker grille, and all fasteners
- Reconnect battery negative terminal and torque to specification
Verification
- Test window operation through complete up and down travel multiple times
- Verify window auto-up and auto-down features function properly (if equipped)
- Check for smooth operation with no hesitation, binding, or unusual noise
- Verify window stops properly at full up and full down positions without slamming
- Confirm all door panel fasteners are secure and panel sits flush with no rattles
- Test door locks and handles to ensure no cables were pinched during reassembly
