Parts
- Fog light assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification or aftermarket equivalent
- Push-type retaining clips (if damaged) × 5 — Replace as needed
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels
- Turn off fog lights and allow bulbs to cool if recently used
- Raise front of vehicle and secure with jack stands on manufacturer-approved lift points
- Remove front wheel on the side requiring fog light replacement (loosen lug nuts before lifting)
Procedure
- 1Access the fog light assemblyTurn the steering wheel fully in the opposite direction of the fog light being replaced to gain better access to the wheel well. Locate the inner fender well liner screws and push-type retainers securing the front portion of the liner.
- 2Remove inner fender liner fastenersRemove the Phillips screws securing the front section of the inner fender liner. Use a trim removal tool or flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry out the push-type retainers. You only need to remove enough fasteners to fold back the liner approximately 6-8 inches to access the fog light housing.Torque specCover Screws10 Nm (8 lb-ft)
- 3Fold back fender linerCarefully pull back the inner fender liner to expose the rear of the fog light assembly. The fog light housing is mounted in the lower front bumper and accessed from behind through the wheel well opening.
- 4Disconnect fog light electrical connectorLocate the electrical connector on the back of the fog light assembly. Press the release tab and pull the connector straight out from the fog light socket. Do not pull on the wiring harness itself.
- 5Remove fog light mounting fastenersLocate the fog light assembly mounting bolts or screws (typically 2-3 fasteners). Remove the mounting hardware using a 10mm socket or appropriate tool. Support the fog light assembly with one hand while removing the final fastener.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 6Remove fog light assemblyCarefully pull the fog light assembly rearward through the bumper opening. Guide it out through the wheel well access area, being careful not to scratch the bumper paint or damage any wiring.
- 7Install new fog light assemblyPosition the new fog light assembly into the bumper opening from the rear, aligning the mounting holes with the bumper bracket. Ensure any alignment tabs or locating pins are properly seated before installing fasteners.
- 8Secure fog light assemblyInstall and tighten the fog light mounting bolts to specification using a torque wrench. Tighten fasteners in a cross pattern if multiple bolts are used to ensure even seating of the assembly.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 9Reconnect electrical connectorPush the electrical connector firmly onto the fog light socket until you hear or feel a positive click. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is fully seated and locked in place.
- 10Reinstall fender linerPosition the inner fender liner back into its original location. Install the push-type retainers by pressing them firmly into their mounting holes until flush. Reinstall and tighten the Phillips screws to specification.Torque specCover Screws10 Nm (8 lb-ft)
- 11Reinstall wheelMount the wheel back onto the hub, hand-tighten lug nuts in a star pattern, then lower vehicle to ground. Once vehicle weight is on the wheel, torque lug nuts to 80-94 lb-ft in a star pattern.
Reassembly
- Ensure all fender liner fasteners are fully seated and secure
- Verify fog light assembly is flush with bumper and properly aligned
- Check that no tools or parts were left in the wheel well area
Verification
- Turn ignition to ON position and activate fog lights to verify proper operation
- Visually inspect fog light for proper illumination and beam pattern
- Check that fog light assembly is secure with no rattles or movement
- Verify electrical connector is fully seated and waterproof seal is intact
- Inspect fender liner to ensure it is properly secured and not rubbing on tire
