Procedure
- 1Locate VVT solenoidThe VVT solenoid is located on the front (radiator side) of the cylinder head, near the timing chain cover on the intake camshaft side. It is a cylindrical component with a single electrical connector and one mounting bolt.
- 2Disconnect electrical connectorPress the locking tab on the VVT solenoid electrical connector and pull straight away from the solenoid. If the connector is difficult to remove, use a small flathead screwdriver or pick to carefully release the lock tab while pulling.

- 7Install new VVT solenoidAlign the new solenoid with the bore in the cylinder head and push firmly until fully seated. The solenoid should slide in smoothly with light hand pressure. Ensure the mounting bolt hole aligns with the threaded hole in the cylinder head.
- 8Install and torque mounting boltThread the VVT solenoid mounting bolt by hand to prevent cross-threading. Using a torque wrench and 10mm socket, tighten the bolt to specification.
