Heated Seat Module

This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the heated seat module, which controls the heating elements in the front seats of the 2014 Ram 2500.

Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
2. Turn ignition to OFF position and remove key
3. Disconnect battery negative terminal and wait minimum 2 minutes
4. Move affected seat fully forward to access rear mounting bolts
5. Ensure seat heater switches are in OFF position

Procedure

   Disconnect battery
   Disconnect the negative battery terminal using a 10mm socket. Move cable away from battery post to prevent accidental reconnection during service.
   Torque spec

   Remove seat mounting bolts
   Remove the four seat mounting bolts (two front, two rear) securing the seat track to the floor. Use appropriate socket and extension to access all four bolts. Support the seat weight while removing the final bolts.

   Tilt seat and access wiring
   Carefully tilt the seat backward to access the underside. Locate all electrical connectors running to the seat base including heated seat wiring, occupancy sensor, and any power seat connections.
   ⚠Seat is heavy - use caution when tilting to avoid back injury or dropping the seat

   Disconnect seat electrical connectors
   Press the locking tab on each electrical connector and disconnect all wiring harnesses from the seat base. Note the routing and connector positions for reassembly. Tag connectors if necessary to ensure correct reinstallation.

   Remove seat from vehicle
   With all electrical connections disconnected, carefully remove the seat assembly from the vehicle. Place seat upside down on a clean protected surface such as a blanket to prevent damage to upholstery.

   Locate heated seat module
   With seat inverted, locate the heated seat module mounted to the seat frame. The module is typically a small rectangular unit with multiple wire connectors attached. It will be secured with mounting bolts or brackets.

   Disconnect module connectors
   Disconnect all electrical connectors from the heated seat module by pressing the locking tabs. There will typically be connectors for the heating element, temperature sensor, and main power/control harness.

   Remove module mounting bolts
   Remove the bolts securing the heated seat module to the seat frame using appropriate socket. Keep track of any brackets or spacers used in the mounting. If a ground strap is present, note its position.

   Remove old module and inspect connections
   Remove the old heated seat module from the seat frame. Inspect all electrical connectors, wiring, and ground connections for corrosion, damage, or burns. Clean any ground connection points with a wire brush if corrosion is present.

    Install new module
    Position the new heated seat module in the mounting location on the seat frame. Ensure any ground straps are properly positioned between the module and frame for good electrical contact. Install mounting bolts and torque to specification.

    Reconnect module electrical connectors
    Reconnect all electrical connectors to the new heated seat module. Ensure each connector locks securely with an audible click. Verify proper seating of each connector by gently pulling on the wire harness.

    Reinstall seat assembly
    Carefully lift seat assembly and position it over the mounting points in the vehicle. Route all wiring harnesses to prevent pinching. Reconnect all seat electrical connectors to the vehicle harness, ensuring proper connector orientation and secure locking.

    Install seat mounting bolts
    Thread in all four seat mounting bolts by hand first to ensure proper alignment. Once all bolts are started, torque to specification in a cross pattern (front left, rear right, front right, rear left) to ensure even seating of the seat track.

    Reconnect battery
    Reconnect the negative battery terminal and torque the terminal bolt to specification. Ensure terminal is clean and making good contact before tightening.

Reassembly

1. Verify all electrical connectors are fully seated and locked
2. Ensure no wiring is pinched under seat tracks or mounting points
3. Check that seat slides and reclines normally on its tracks
4. Confirm all seat mounting bolts are torqued to specification

Verification

• Turn ignition to ON position without starting engine
• Test heated seat function by activating the heated seat switch - indicator light should illuminate
• Allow heated seat to run for 2-3 minutes and verify seat cushion is warming
• Test both low and high heat settings if equipped
• Verify no warning lights or messages appear on instrument cluster
• Operate seat adjustments to confirm no wiring interference or pinching
• If equipped with seat occupancy sensor, verify airbag warning light behaves normally (illuminates briefly at startup then extinguishes)
