Parts
- Sunroof switch assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and turn ignition off
- Move driver seat fully rearward to provide working room below overhead console
- Allow interior to cool if vehicle has been in direct sunlight to avoid burns from heated surfaces
Procedure
- 1Locate overhead console assemblyIdentify the overhead console between the sun visors. The sunroof switch is integrated into this console assembly, typically positioned near the map lights and other overhead controls.
- 2Remove map light lensesUsing a trim panel tool or small flathead screwdriver, carefully pry out the map light lenses from the overhead console. Start at one edge and work around the perimeter. These lenses are held by spring clips and will pop out with moderate pressure.
- 3Remove overhead console fastenersLocate and remove the screws hidden behind the map light lenses. There are typically two screws securing the overhead console. Use appropriate socket or screwdriver to remove these fasteners completely and set aside.Torque specCover Screws15 Nm (11 lb-ft)
- 4Lower overhead consoleCarefully pull down the overhead console assembly. It will hinge from the windshield side. Lower it enough to access the electrical connectors on the back side. Do not pull too far as wiring harnesses are still connected.
- 5Disconnect electrical connectorsLocate the wiring harness connector for the sunroof switch. Press the locking tab on the connector and pull it straight out from the switch assembly. If multiple connectors are present for lights and other functions, identify the correct sunroof switch connector by tracing wires or comparing to replacement part.
- 6Remove sunroof switch from consoleThe sunroof switch is retained in the console housing by tabs or small clips. Using a trim tool, carefully release the retaining tabs around the perimeter of the switch. Push the switch out from the front of the console or pull from the rear depending on design. Note the orientation of the switch for proper installation of replacement.
- 7Install new sunroof switchPosition the new sunroof switch in the console housing, ensuring proper orientation matches the original. Press firmly until all retaining tabs click into place. Verify the switch is flush with the console surface and seated completely.
- 8Reconnect electrical connectorPlug the wiring harness connector into the back of the new sunroof switch. Push firmly until the locking tab clicks into place. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is fully seated and locked.
- 9Test sunroof operationBefore reinstalling the overhead console, turn the ignition to the RUN position (do not start engine). Test all sunroof switch functions: open, close, vent, and verify switch lights illuminate. Confirm smooth operation in all positions.
- 10Reinstall overhead consoleLift the overhead console back into position, aligning the hinge points at the windshield side. Push up firmly until the console seats flush against the headliner. Install the retaining screws behind the map light locations and tighten to specification.Torque specCover Screws15 Nm (11 lb-ft)
- 11Reinstall map light lensesSnap the map light lenses back into their openings in the overhead console. Press around the perimeter until all clips engage and the lenses are flush with the console surface.
Reassembly
- Ensure all trim panels and lenses are fully seated with no gaps
- Verify no tools or loose screws were left in the overhead console area
Verification
- Test all sunroof functions with ignition on: full open, close, vent position, and any intermediate stops
- Verify sunroof switch illumination functions properly with vehicle lights on
- Check that all map lights and other overhead console functions still operate normally
- Confirm overhead console is secure with no rattles or loose components
