Parts
- Horn assembly × 1 — 86520-06180 or equivalent
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level ground and engage parking brake
- Turn ignition off and remove key
- Disconnect negative battery terminal using 10mm socket and wait 90 seconds
- Allow engine to cool if recently driven
Procedure
- 1Access front bumper areaFrom underneath the front of the vehicle, locate the plastic splash shield below the bumper. You may need to turn the steering wheel fully to the left to improve access to the driver side area where the horn is mounted.
- 2Remove splash shield fasteners (if necessary)If access is restricted, remove the front driver side splash shield fasteners using a 10mm socket or appropriate tool for push-pin clips. Only remove what is necessary to access the horn assembly behind the bumper.
- 3Locate horn assemblyThe horn is mounted on a bracket behind the front bumper, near the driver side headlight assembly. It is a circular or disc-shaped component with an electrical connector and mounting bolt.
- 4Disconnect horn electrical connectorPress the release tab on the electrical connector and pull it straight off the horn terminal. Inspect the connector and terminal for corrosion or damage.
- 5Test horn (optional)If diagnosing a horn issue, use a multimeter to check for 12V at the connector when an assistant presses the horn button (battery must be reconnected temporarily for this test). If voltage is present and horn doesn't sound, the horn is faulty. If no voltage, check fuse and relay.
- 6Remove horn mounting boltUsing a 12mm socket with extension, remove the horn mounting bolt that secures the horn to its bracket. Support the horn as you remove the bolt to prevent it from falling.Torque specHorn Mounting Bolt15 Nm (11 lb-ft)
- 7Remove horn assemblyCarefully extract the horn from its mounting location. Note the orientation and position of any spacers or ground terminals that may be present on the mounting bolt.

- 9Reconnect electrical connectorPush the electrical connector firmly onto the horn terminal until you hear or feel it click into place. Ensure the connection is secure.
- 10Reinstall splash shieldIf removed, reinstall the splash shield and secure with all fasteners. Ensure all clips and bolts are properly seated.
Reassembly
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal and torque to specification if applicable
- Verify all fasteners are tight and no tools are left in the engine bay
- Return steering wheel to center position
Verification
- Turn ignition to ON position without starting the engine
- Press the horn button on the steering wheel and verify the horn sounds clearly
- Check that the horn tone is consistent and at proper volume
- Ensure no warning lights are illuminated on the dashboard
- Verify all splash shields are secure and no rattles are present
