Parts

  • HVAC control panel assembly × 1 — 55900-06270 or equivalent
  • Panel retaining clips (if broken during removal) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and set parking brake
  2. Turn ignition off and remove key
  3. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait 90 seconds
  4. Adjust steering wheel to lowest position for easier access
  5. Set transmission to Park (automatic) or Neutral (manual)

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove lower center console panel
Using plastic trim tools, carefully pry out the lower center console trim panel below the HVAC controls. Start at the bottom edge and work around the perimeter. Remove the panel to expose the lower mounting area.
  2. 2
    Remove climate control trim bezel
Gently pry the climate control trim bezel (the decorative panel surrounding the HVAC controls and radio) from the dashboard using plastic trim tools. Start at the lower corners and work your way around. The bezel is held by multiple push-clips. Pull the bezel forward carefully to release all clips.
  3. 3
    Remove radio/HVAC assembly mounting screws
Locate and remove the four 10mm screws securing the radio and HVAC control assembly to the dashboard frame. Two screws are typically located at the top and two at the bottom of the assembly opening.

  4. 4
    Pull assembly forward
Carefully pull the radio and HVAC control assembly forward from the dashboard opening approximately 4-6 inches. Support the weight of the assembly to prevent strain on the wiring harnesses.
  5. 5
    Disconnect HVAC control connectors
Locate the electrical connectors on the back of the HVAC control panel. Typically there are 2-3 connectors. Press the locking tabs and disconnect each connector from the control panel. Note the connector positions for reassembly.
  6. 6
    Separate HVAC control from radio
Remove the two Phillips screws securing the HVAC control panel to the radio bracket. Separate the HVAC control panel from the radio assembly. The control panel is now free for replacement.
  7. 7
    Install new HVAC control panel
Attach the new HVAC control panel to the radio bracket using the two Phillips screws. Ensure the panel is properly aligned and secured before proceeding.
  8. 8
    Reconnect electrical connectors
Reconnect all electrical connectors to the back of the HVAC control panel. Ensure each connector clicks into place and is fully seated. Verify all locking tabs are engaged.
  9. 9
    Reinstall radio/HVAC assembly
Carefully guide the assembly back into the dashboard opening while routing wiring harnesses to prevent pinching. Align the mounting holes and install the four 10mm screws. Tighten screws evenly in a cross pattern.

  10. 10
    Reinstall trim bezel
Position the climate control trim bezel over the assembly and press firmly around all edges until all clips engage with audible clicks. Ensure the bezel is flush with the dashboard surface.
  11. 11
    Reinstall lower console panel
Position the lower center console trim panel and press firmly to engage all retaining clips. Verify the panel is fully seated and flush with surrounding trim.

Reassembly

  1. Reconnect the negative battery cable
  2. Ensure all dashboard panels are properly aligned and all clips are fully engaged
  3. Check that no gaps exist between trim pieces

Verification

  • Turn ignition to ON position (engine off) and verify HVAC control panel illuminates
  • Test all HVAC control functions: fan speed, temperature adjustment, mode selection, and recirculation
  • Verify air flow comes from correct vents when different modes are selected
  • Test AC and heater operation by starting engine and running through all settings
  • Confirm all buttons and knobs operate smoothly with no binding
  • Check that climate control display shows correct information and responds to inputs
