Parts

  • EVAP Vent Valve (Canister Close Valve) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level ground and apply parking brake
  2. Place wheel chocks behind front wheels
  3. Turn ignition to OFF position and remove key
  4. Allow engine to cool completely if recently driven

Procedure

  1. 1
Raise and secure rear of vehicle
Position jack under rear jacking point on driver side. Raise vehicle and support with jack stands positioned at factory lift points. Ensure vehicle is stable before working underneath.
  2. 2
    Locate EVAP vent valve
The EVAP vent valve is mounted on the charcoal canister assembly, located near the fuel tank on the driver side rear underneath the vehicle. Identify the valve with electrical connector and two hose connections.
  3. 3
    Disconnect electrical connector
Press the locking tab on the electrical connector and pull straight away from the vent valve. Avoid pulling on the wires themselves.
  4. 4
    Disconnect vapor hoses
Release the hose clamps on both vapor hoses connected to the vent valve using a flathead screwdriver. Carefully twist and pull the hoses off the valve ports. Note the orientation and routing of each hose for reinstallation.
ℹ️Some fuel vapor odor may be present when disconnecting hoses. This is normal.
  5. 5
    Remove vent valve mounting
Remove the mounting bolt securing the EVAP vent valve to the canister bracket using a 10mm socket. Remove the valve from the vehicle.
  6. 6
    Install new vent valve
Position the new EVAP vent valve onto the mounting bracket in the same orientation as the original. Install the mounting bolt and torque to specification.

  8. 8
    Reconnect electrical connector
Push the electrical connector onto the new vent valve until it clicks into place. Verify the locking tab is fully engaged.
  9. 9
    Lower vehicle
Remove jack stands and carefully lower the vehicle to the ground. Remove wheel chocks.

Reassembly

  1. Verify all hose connections are secure and properly routed
  2. Ensure electrical connector is fully seated and locked

Verification

  • Turn ignition to ON position without starting engine and verify no fuel odors are present
  • Start engine and check for proper idle with no rough running
  • Use an OBD-II scanner to clear any stored EVAP codes
  • Drive vehicle through a complete drive cycle to allow the ECM to test the EVAP system
  • After 50-100 miles of driving, verify that EVAP-related codes do not return
