Parts

  • Heated seat control module × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn ignition off and remove key
  3. Move seat to full forward position for easier access to mounting bolts
  4. Disconnect battery negative terminal and wait 3 minutes before proceeding

Procedure

  1. 1
    Disconnect battery negative terminal
Locate the battery in the engine compartment. Using a 10mm socket, loosen the negative terminal bolt and remove the cable from the battery post. Secure the cable away from the battery to prevent accidental contact. Wait at least 3 minutes before proceeding.
    Torque spec
    Battery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)
  2. 2
    Access seat mounting area
Move the affected seat to its full forward position using the manual seat adjustment lever or power controls. This provides clear access to the rear seat mounting bolts and module location underneath the seat cushion.
  3. 3
    Remove seat track covers
Locate the plastic covers on the seat tracks at the front and rear mounting points. Use a trim panel removal tool or carefully pry these covers off by hand to expose the seat mounting bolts. Set covers aside in a safe location.
  4. 4
    Disconnect seat electrical connectors
Reach under the seat and locate the wiring harness connectors for the heated seat module. These are typically positioned near the center of the seat frame. Press the release tabs and carefully disconnect all electrical connectors from the seat wiring harness. Note the routing and position of wires for reassembly.
  5. 5
    Remove seat mounting bolts
Locate the four seat mounting bolts (two at front, two at rear) securing the seat assembly to the floor. Using a 10mm socket with extension, remove all four mounting bolts. Support the seat assembly to prevent it from shifting during bolt removal.
    Torque spec
    Module Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
  6. 6
    Remove seat assembly from vehicle
With all mounting bolts removed and electrical connectors disconnected, carefully lift the seat assembly up and out of the vehicle. The seat is heavy; use proper lifting technique or have an assistant help. Place the seat on a clean, protected work surface with the bottom facing up.
  7. 7
    Locate heated seat module
With the seat inverted, locate the heated seat module mounted to the underside of the seat frame. The module is typically a rectangular black or gray box secured with two or three mounting bolts and connected to the seat heating elements and wiring harness.
  8. 8
    Disconnect module connectors
Disconnect the electrical connectors from the heated seat module. There will be at least two connectors: one for the heating element wires and one for the vehicle harness connection. Press release tabs and carefully pull connectors straight off to avoid damaging pins.
  9. 9
    Remove module mounting bolts
Using a 10mm socket, remove the bolts securing the heated seat module to the seat frame. Typically there are 2-3 bolts holding the module bracket. Remove the module and bracket assembly from the seat frame.
    Torque spec
    Module Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
  10. 10
    Install new heated seat module
Position the new heated seat module in the same location and orientation as the original. Thread in all mounting bolts by hand first to ensure proper alignment, then torque to specification using a torque wrench in a cross pattern.
    Torque spec
    Module Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
  11. 11
    Reconnect module electrical connectors
Reconnect all electrical connectors to the new heated seat module, ensuring each connector clicks fully into place. Verify that heating element connectors are properly seated and that no wires are pinched or stretched.
  12. 12
    Reinstall seat assembly
Carefully lift the seat assembly and position it over the four floor mounting points. Align all mounting holes with the floor studs or threaded inserts. Reconnect the seat wiring harness connectors to the vehicle harness before fully securing the seat.
    Torque spec
    Module Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
  13. 13
    Reconnect battery and test
Reconnect the battery negative terminal and torque to specification. Start the vehicle and test heated seat operation on all heat settings. Verify that the seat heats properly and that the indicator light functions correctly on the control switch.
    Torque spec
    Battery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)

Reassembly

  1. Reinstall all seat track covers by pressing firmly until they snap into place
  2. Return seat to desired position and verify all slide and recline functions operate normally
  3. Ensure no wiring is pinched or interfering with seat movement throughout full range of travel

Verification

  • Turn ignition to ON position and activate heated seat function on all available settings
  • Verify heated seat indicator light illuminates on the control switch
  • Allow seat to heat for 2-3 minutes and confirm warmth is felt through seat cushion
  • Test seat movement in all directions to ensure no wiring interference or binding
  • Check for any warning lights on instrument cluster related to seat systems
