Parts

  • Power mirror motor assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification
  • Door panel retaining clips (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 3 minutes for electrical system to discharge
  3. Roll down the window on the affected door approximately 2-3 inches for access
  4. Gather all tools and replacement parts before beginning

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove door panel screws
Remove the Phillips screw located in the door pull handle recess. Remove the screw behind the interior door handle trim by prying off the small cover cap with a flat-head screwdriver. Locate and remove any additional screws at the bottom edge of the door panel.
  2. 2
    Disconnect door panel controls
Carefully pry out the power window switch assembly from the armrest using a panel removal tool. Press the locking tab and disconnect the electrical connector. If equipped with power locks on this panel, disconnect that connector as well.
  3. 3
    Remove door panel
Starting at the bottom rear corner, use a panel removal tool to release the plastic retaining clips around the perimeter of the door panel. Work your way around the panel, pulling it away from the door frame. Once all clips are released, lift the panel upward to disengage it from the window sill channel, then pull it away from the door.
Support the door panel as you lift it to prevent stress on any remaining electrical connections.
  4. 4
    Remove moisture barrier access
Peel back the plastic moisture barrier sheet carefully in the area of the mirror mounting. Only remove as much as necessary to access the mirror mounting bolts and electrical connector - typically the upper front corner. The barrier is usually held with adhesive and should be reusable.
  5. 5
    Disconnect mirror electrical connector
Locate the mirror electrical connector inside the door cavity near the upper front corner. Press the locking tab and carefully disconnect the connector from the mirror motor harness. Note the routing of the wire harness for reinstallation.
  6. 6
    Remove mirror assembly mounting bolts
Locate the three 10mm mounting bolts securing the mirror assembly to the door frame, accessible from inside the door cavity. Support the mirror from the outside with one hand while removing the bolts with the other to prevent the mirror from falling.
Have an assistant support the mirror from outside, or use tape to hold it in place while removing the final bolt.
  7. 7
    Remove mirror assembly
Carefully pull the entire mirror assembly away from the door, feeding the wiring harness through the door opening. Place the mirror assembly on a clean work surface with the mounting surface facing up.
  8. 8
    Remove mirror motor from housing
Remove the screws securing the mirror motor to the mirror housing. Disconnect any internal connectors between the motor and mirror glass adjustment mechanism. Carefully separate the motor from the housing, noting the orientation and position of any mounting brackets or alignment pins.

    Reinstall mirror assembly to door
Feed the wiring harness through the door opening and position the mirror assembly against the door frame, aligning the mounting holes. Install the three 10mm mounting bolts finger-tight first, then torque evenly to ensure proper mirror alignment.
  11. 11
    Reconnect electrical and test
Reconnect the mirror electrical connector inside the door cavity. Temporarily reconnect the battery negative terminal. Test all mirror functions including up/down, left/right movement, and mirror folding if equipped. Verify smooth operation without binding or unusual noise.
ℹ️If mirror does not operate correctly, verify all electrical connections are fully seated and locked.

Reinstall moisture barrier and door panel
Disconnect the battery again. Press the moisture barrier back into place, ensuring a good seal around all edges. Reconnect any door panel electrical connectors. Position the door panel onto the window sill channel and slide it downward into place. Press firmly around the perimeter to seat all retaining clips. Reinstall all screws and trim pieces.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all door panel clips are fully seated and the panel is secure with no gaps
  2. Verify the moisture barrier is properly sealed to prevent water intrusion
  3. Reconnect battery terminal and torque to specification
  4. Test window operation to ensure no interference with the door panel

Verification

  • Test all mirror adjustment directions (up, down, left, right) for smooth operation
  • If equipped, verify power-fold mirror function works properly
  • Check that mirror holds position firmly and does not droop or sag
  • Verify no rattles or unusual noises from the door panel
  • Confirm all door panel switches and controls function normally
  • Inspect mirror alignment visually from outside the vehicle
