Parts

  • Dash tweeter speaker × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn ignition off and remove key
  3. Disconnect negative battery terminal to prevent airbag deployment or electrical shorts
  4. Wait at least 3 minutes after battery disconnect before working near airbag components
  5. Identify which dash speaker requires replacement (driver or passenger side)

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove dash speaker grille cover
Locate the triangular speaker grille at the upper corner of the dashboard near the A-pillar. Using a trim removal tool, carefully pry up the grille starting from the rear edge. Work around the perimeter to release all retaining clips. Lift the grille away from the dashboard.
  2. 2
    Remove speaker mounting screws
With the grille removed, the tweeter speaker assembly will be visible. Remove the Phillips head screws securing the speaker to the dashboard mounting bracket (typically 2-3 screws). Keep screws in a safe location for reinstallation.

  3. 3
    Disconnect speaker electrical connector
Gently pull the speaker forward to access the electrical connector on the back. Press the locking tab on the connector and pull straight back to disconnect. Do not pull on the wires themselves.
  4. 4
    Remove old speaker
Once the connector is detached, remove the speaker assembly completely from the dashboard. Inspect the mounting area for any debris or broken clips.
  5. 5
    Install new speaker
Connect the electrical connector to the new speaker by pushing firmly until the locking tab clicks into place. Verify the connection is secure by gently tugging on the connector, not the wires.
  6. 6
    Secure speaker to mounting bracket
Position the new speaker into the dashboard mounting location, aligning the screw holes. Install the Phillips head screws and tighten to specification. Ensure the speaker sits flush against the mounting surface.

  7. 7
    Reinstall speaker grille
Align the speaker grille with the dashboard opening and the retaining clip locations. Press firmly around the perimeter until all clips are fully seated and the grille is flush with the dashboard surface.
  8. 8
    Reconnect battery
Reconnect the negative battery terminal and tighten to specification. Do not overtighten.

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all trim panels are fully seated and clips are engaged before testing
  2. Reset power window auto function if necessary by fully lowering then raising each window while holding the switch for 2 seconds at the top position
  3. Reset radio presets and clock

Verification

  • Turn ignition to ACC or ON position
  • Turn on audio system and adjust balance/fade to the replaced speaker
  • Verify the speaker produces clear sound at low, medium, and high volumes without distortion or rattling
  • Check that the speaker grille is secure and flush with the dashboard
  • Verify no warning lights are illuminated on the instrument cluster
