Replace the timing chain, guides, tensioner, and related components on the 2015 Kia Forte 1.8L I4 engine to restore proper valve timing and prevent catastrophic engine damage.

Warnings

⚠️This is a critical engine timing procedure. Incorrect timing will cause severe engine damage including bent valves and piston contact. Verify all timing marks multiple times before rotating engine.
⚠️The crankshaft pulley bolt is torqued to 180 Nm and may be torque-to-yield. Use proper holding tools to prevent engine rotation during removal and installation.
Support the engine properly before removing motor mounts. Engine movement can damage components or cause injury.
Do not rotate the engine with timing chain removed. Valves will contact pistons causing catastrophic damage.
Camshaft bearing caps must be installed in their original positions and tightened in the correct sequence. Marking them during removal is critical.
