Relearn tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor IDs to the vehicle's ECU after tire rotation, sensor replacement, or battery disconnect.
Warnings
ℹ️TPMS relearn must be performed with vehicle stationary and ignition on, engine off.
⚠Ensure all tires are inflated to the correct pressure before beginning the relearn procedure. Incorrect tire pressure will cause the TPMS light to remain illuminated.

Preparation
- Park vehicle on level ground in a safe location
- Verify all four tires are inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure (found on driver door jamb sticker)
- Ensure vehicle battery is fully charged
- Have TPMS sensor IDs available if performing manual entry (printed on sensors or retrieve with TPMS tool)
Procedure
- 1Verify tire pressuresUse a tire pressure gauge to check all four tires. Adjust pressure to match the specification on the driver's door jamb label (typically 33 PSI front and rear for 2015 Forte). Include the spare tire if equipped with TPMS sensor.
- 2Turn ignition to ON positionInsert key and turn ignition to ON position without starting the engine (or press START button twice without pressing brake pedal). Verify that the TPMS warning light illuminates on the instrument cluster, then goes out or begins flashing.
- 3Connect TPMS scan toolConnect the TPMS scan tool or OBD-II scanner to the diagnostic port located under the driver's side dashboard, below the steering column. Power on the scan tool and select the 2015 Kia Forte from the vehicle menu.
- 4Select TPMS relearn functionNavigate to the TPMS or Tire Pressure Monitor section of the scan tool. Select 'TPMS Relearn,' 'Auto Relearn,' or 'Register Sensor IDs' function depending on your tool's terminology. The scan tool will communicate with the vehicle's ECU to prepare for sensor registration.
- 5Activate and register sensorsFollow the on-screen prompts to activate each TPMS sensor. Begin with the left front tire as indicated by the scan tool. Hold the TPMS activation tool against the tire sidewall near the valve stem. The tool will trigger the sensor to transmit its ID. Wait for confirmation beep or screen indication before moving to the next wheel. Proceed in the order: LF (driver front), RF (passenger front), RR (passenger rear), LR (driver rear).
- 6Complete relearn procedureAfter all four sensors have been registered, the scan tool will display a completion message. Turn the ignition OFF, then back ON. The TPMS warning light should illuminate briefly during the bulb check, then extinguish. If the light remains on or flashes, repeat the relearn procedure.
- 7Perform drive cycle verificationStart the engine and drive the vehicle at speeds above 20 mph for at least 10 minutes. This allows the ECU to verify communication with all TPMS sensors and confirm proper system operation. Monitor the instrument cluster to ensure the TPMS light remains off during the drive.
Reassembly
- No disassembly is required for this procedure
Verification
- Confirm TPMS warning light is OFF with ignition on and engine running
- Use scan tool to verify all four sensor IDs are registered and transmitting pressure data
- Check that tire pressure readings displayed on instrument cluster (if equipped) match actual tire pressures
- Drive vehicle and verify TPMS light does not illuminate during normal operation
