Parts
- H10 fog light bulb × 1 — H10 9145 halogen bulb or LED equivalent
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level ground and turn off ignition
- Turn off fog lights and allow bulbs to cool for at least 15 minutes if recently used
- Identify which fog light bulb needs replacement (driver or passenger side)
- Gather all tools and replacement bulb before starting work
Procedure
- 1Access fog light assembly from wheelwellTurn the steering wheel full lock away from the side being serviced to gain access to the fog light area. For driver side, turn wheel full right; for passenger side, turn wheel full left. This opens up the wheelwell area for better access.
- 2Reach behind bumper to locate fog light housingReach up behind the front bumper from the wheelwell area and locate the back of the fog light housing. The fog light is mounted in the lower bumper area. You may need to use a flashlight to clearly see the bulb socket at the rear of the fog light assembly.
- 3Disconnect electrical connectorLocate the electrical connector at the back of the fog light bulb socket. Press the release tab on the connector and pull it straight off the bulb socket. The connector should separate with moderate force. Do not pull on the wiring harness itself.
- 4Remove bulb socket from housingGrasp the bulb socket firmly and rotate it counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn (90 degrees) until it releases from the fog light housing. Pull the socket and bulb assembly straight out from the housing. The socket uses a twist-lock design.
- 5Remove old bulb from socketThe H10 bulb is held in the socket by a twist-lock or pull-out mechanism depending on socket design. For twist-lock type, rotate the bulb counterclockwise and pull out. For direct-fit type, simply pull the bulb straight out of the socket with moderate force.
- 6Install new fog light bulbIf using a halogen bulb, handle only by the plastic base to avoid touching the glass. Insert the new H10 bulb into the socket, ensuring the tabs align properly. For twist-lock type, push in and rotate clockwise until it locks. For direct-fit, push firmly until fully seated. Verify the bulb is secure in the socket.
- 7Reinstall socket into fog light housingInsert the bulb socket back into the fog light housing, aligning the tabs with the slots in the housing. Push in firmly and rotate clockwise approximately 1/4 turn until the socket locks into place. Verify the socket is fully seated and cannot be pulled out.
- 8Reconnect electrical connectorPush the electrical connector onto the bulb socket until you hear or feel a distinct click indicating the locking tab has engaged. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is secure and will not pull off.
Reassembly
- Return steering wheel to center position
- No disassembly was required, so no reassembly steps are needed
Verification
- Turn ignition to ON position (engine does not need to run)
- Activate fog lights using the fog light switch on the headlight control stalk
- Exit vehicle and visually confirm both fog lights illuminate properly
- Check that the new bulb provides even light output matching the opposite side
- Turn off fog lights and ignition when verification is complete
