Parts

  • Power mirror motor assembly × 1 — Use OEM specification - Mopar 68203714AA or equivalent
  • Door panel retaining clips (if broken) × 5 — Mopar 6503857 or equivalent
  • Mirror foam seal (if damaged) × 1 — Use OEM specification

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Disconnect negative battery terminal and wait 2 minutes for system capacitor discharge
  3. Lower driver or passenger window completely to prevent stress on regulator
  4. Take reference photos of door panel, handle, and mirror area with phone

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove door panel fasteners
Remove the small Phillips screw cover from the door pull handle by prying gently with trim tool. Remove two T30 Torx screws behind the handle. Remove one T20 Torx screw from the door panel below the interior door handle. Remove the triangular speaker grille at the top front of the door panel by carefully prying upward with trim tool.
  2. 2
    Disconnect door panel electrical connectors
Press the window switch panel release tab and lift the entire switch assembly upward out of the door panel. Disconnect all electrical connectors from the window switches, mirror switch, and door lock switch by pressing release tabs. Note the connector orientations for reassembly.
  3. 3
Remove door panel from door frame
Starting at the bottom rear corner, use trim panel removal tools to gently pry the door panel away from the door frame, releasing the plastic retaining clips. Work around the perimeter slowly, supporting the panel weight. Once all clips are released, lift the entire panel upward approximately 2 inches to disengage it from the window sill, then pull away from door. Carefully disconnect the door handle cable by rotating the cable end 90 degrees and sliding it out of the handle mechanism.
  4. 4
    Remove water barrier shield
Carefully peel back the plastic water barrier shield at the mirror area only - do not remove the entire shield. Fold it back enough to access the mirror mounting area and electrical connector. Keep the shield intact to maintain water seal integrity.
  5. 5
    Disconnect mirror electrical connector
Locate the main mirror electrical connector inside the door cavity near the upper front corner. Press the red release tab and disconnect the connector from the mirror harness. Note the routing of the mirror harness through the door for reinstallation.
  6. 6
    Remove mirror assembly from door
From inside the door, locate the three T30 Torx mounting bolts securing the mirror base to the door frame. These are accessed through the opening behind where the triangular speaker grille was removed. Remove all three bolts while supporting the mirror from outside. Carefully pull the mirror assembly outward from the door, feeding the electrical harness through the door opening.

  7. 7
    Disassemble mirror housing
Place mirror assembly on clean padded work surface with glass facing down. Remove the mirror glass by gently prying at the bottom edge to release the retaining clips - use caution as glass can break. Disconnect the mirror heater connector if equipped. Remove small cover on rear of housing to access motor mounting screws.
  8. 8
    Remove defective mirror motor
Remove three small Phillips screws securing the power mirror motor to the housing bracket. Note the orientation of the motor and its gear engagement with the mirror adjustment mechanism. Carefully extract the motor from the housing, noting any spacers or shims. Disconnect the motor electrical connector if not already separated.
  9. 9
    Install new mirror motor
Connect electrical connector to new mirror motor. Position new motor in housing in same orientation as original, ensuring gear teeth properly engage with adjustment mechanism. Install three Phillips mounting screws and tighten securely but do not overtighten plastic housing. Test motor operation briefly by reconnecting battery and mirror connector before full reassembly.
  10. 10
    Reassemble mirror housing
Reconnect mirror heater connector if equipped. Align mirror glass retaining clips with housing slots and press firmly until glass clicks into place on all sides. Reinstall rear cover and verify glass is secure. Check that mirror adjustment moves smoothly through full range.
  11. 11
    Install mirror assembly to door
Feed mirror electrical harness through door opening and position mirror base against door frame mounting surface. Align three mounting bolt holes. Install three T30 Torx mounting bolts finger-tight first to ensure proper alignment, then torque in star pattern to specification. Connect main mirror electrical connector inside door, ensuring positive click engagement.

  12. 12
    Reinstall door panel
Reposition water barrier shield and press firmly around edges to restore seal. Reconnect door handle cable by sliding cable end into handle mechanism and rotating 90 degrees. Connect all electrical connectors to window switches, mirror switch, and lock switch. Press switch assembly into door panel. Align door panel with window sill and slide downward into position, then press firmly around perimeter to engage all retaining clips. Install T30 Torx screws behind door pull handle, T20 Torx screw below interior handle, and Phillips screw cover. Reinstall triangular speaker grille.
  13. 13
    Reconnect battery and test system
Reconnect negative battery terminal and torque terminal bolt to specification. Cycle ignition to ON position without starting engine. Test mirror adjustment in all directions (up, down, left, right) using interior mirror switch. Test mirror fold function if equipped. Verify mirror heater function if equipped by running for 30 seconds and checking for warmth.
    Torque spec
    Battery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all door panel clips are properly seated and panel is flush with door frame around entire perimeter
  2. Verify all electrical connectors are fully engaged with positive clicks
  3. Check that door handle cable operates smoothly without binding
  4. Confirm water barrier shield is completely sealed to prevent moisture intrusion

Verification

  • Test mirror adjustment in all four directions - mirror should move smoothly without binding or unusual noise
  • Verify mirror fold function operates correctly if equipped with power folding mirrors
  • Check mirror heater operation by running for 30 seconds and verifying warmth on glass surface
  • Ensure all door panel functions work correctly (windows, locks, switches)
  • Verify no rattles or loose panels when closing door firmly
  • Test mirror memory function if equipped by cycling seat memory positions
