This procedure covers the removal and replacement of the rear engine mount on a 2014-2019 Toyota Corolla with the 1.8L I4 engine.
Warnings

Preparation
- Park vehicle on level ground and apply parking brake
- Allow engine to cool completely if recently operated
- Disconnect negative battery terminal
- Raise front of vehicle and support securely on jack stands
- Remove front engine under cover if equipped (10mm bolts)
Procedure
- 1Support the enginePosition a floor jack with a wood block under the oil pan to support the engine weight. Raise the jack just until it contacts the pan with light pressure, but do not lift the engine yet. Alternatively, install an engine support bar across the engine bay to suspend the engine from above.
- 2Locate the rear engine mountFrom underneath the vehicle, locate the rear engine mount at the rear of the engine block. The mount connects the engine/transmission assembly to the subframe. It consists of the mount bracket bolted to the engine block and the mount itself bolted to the subframe.
- 3Remove mount through boltUsing a 17mm socket, remove the mount through bolt that passes horizontally through the center of the mount assembly, connecting the upper and lower mount sections. This bolt may require significant force to break loose. Support the bolt as it comes out to prevent it from falling.Torque specMount Through Bolt84 Nm (62 lb-ft)
- 4Slightly raise the engineCarefully raise the engine approximately 10-15mm using the floor jack or engine support bar. This relieves tension on the rear mount and creates clearance for removal. Do not raise excessively as this may stress other mounts or components.⚠Raise the engine slowly and check for interference with radiator hoses, wiring, and other components. Stop if resistance is felt.

- 6Remove engine mount-to-block boltsUsing a 17mm socket, remove the bolts securing the upper mount bracket to the engine block/transmission assembly. - 7Inspect and prepare new mountInspect the mount locations on both the engine block and subframe for damage, cracks, or thread wear. Clean mounting surfaces of dirt and corrosion. Compare the new mount to the old mount to verify correct replacement part. Transfer any brackets or hardware if not included with the new mount.
- 8Install new mount to engine blockPosition the new mount assembly and thread the engine mount-to-block bolts by hand to ensure proper alignment. Once both bolts are started, tighten them to specification using a torque wrench. - 10Lower engine into positionCarefully lower the engine using the jack or support bar until the mount is properly seated and aligned. The upper and lower sections of the mount should align for the through bolt. Adjust engine position as needed to achieve proper alignment.

- 12Torque all mount bolts to specificationWith the engine settled in its normal position and the through bolt installed, torque all mounting bolts in sequence: first the engine mount-to-block bolts to 65 Nm (48 lb-ft), then the engine mount-to-frame bolts to 75 Nm (55 lb-ft). - 13Remove engine supportCarefully remove the floor jack or engine support bar. Verify the engine settles properly onto all mounts and inspect for proper alignment. Rock the engine gently by hand to confirm secure mounting.
Reassembly
- Reinstall front engine under cover if removed, torquing bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft)
- Lower vehicle from jack stands
- Reconnect negative battery terminal
- Clear any diagnostic trouble codes if battery was disconnected for extended period
Verification
- Start the engine and verify no excessive vibration or unusual movement
- With engine running, shift through all transmission gears (foot on brake) and verify smooth engagement without excessive engine movement
- Perform a short test drive and verify normal engine operation without vibration or clunking noises during acceleration or deceleration
- After test drive, re-inspect all mount bolts from underneath to confirm they remain tight with no visible loosening
