Parts
- Fog light assembly (left or right as needed) × 1 — Use OEM specification
- H11 fog light bulb (if replacing bulb only) × 1 — H11 55W halogen
- Push-type retainer clips (if damaged) × 3 — Use OEM specification
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Place wheel chocks behind rear wheels
- Turn off ignition and fog lights, allow to cool for at least 15 minutes
- Turn steering wheel fully in opposite direction of fog light being serviced for better access
- If additional clearance needed, raise front of vehicle with jack and support on jack stands
Procedure
- 1Access wheel well linerWorking from underneath and inside the front wheel well, locate the plastic wheel well liner covering the fog light area. You will see several push-type retainer clips holding the liner in place.
- 2Remove wheel well liner clipsUsing trim panel removal tools, carefully remove the push-type retainer clips securing the rear portion of the wheel well liner. Typically 3-4 clips need removal for adequate access. Pull center pin first, then remove entire clip. Set clips aside for reinstallation.
- 3Pull back wheel well linerGently pull back the wheel well liner to expose the rear of the fog light assembly. You should now see the fog light housing and electrical connector. Use work light to illuminate area if needed.
- 4Disconnect electrical connectorLocate the electrical connector at the rear of the fog light assembly. Press the release tab and pull the connector straight back to disconnect. Do not pull on wires.
- 5Remove fog light mounting fastenersUsing a 10mm socket, remove the mounting bolt(s) securing the fog light assembly to the bumper cover. Some models use a single bolt, others may have two. Keep fasteners organized for reinstallation.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 6Extract fog light assemblyCarefully pull the fog light assembly forward and out through the bumper opening. Angle the assembly as needed to clear the bumper tabs. If assembly is stuck, check for additional clips or fasteners.
- 7Replace bulb or entire assemblyIf replacing entire assembly, transfer to new unit. If replacing bulb only, rotate the bulb socket counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn and pull out. Remove old H11 bulb by pulling straight out from socket. Install new bulb without touching glass, then insert socket back into housing and rotate clockwise to lock.⚠Handle new halogen bulb with clean gloves or cloth only. Skin oils will cause hot spots and premature failure.
- 8Install fog light assemblyInsert fog light assembly into bumper opening from the front, aligning mounting holes. Ensure any alignment tabs or clips engage properly with bumper cover.
- 9Secure mounting fastenersInstall and hand-tighten the 10mm mounting bolt(s) through the rear of the fog light housing. Torque to specification using torque wrench for best results, though hand-tight plus 1/8 turn is acceptable for this application.Torque specModule Mounting Bolts8 Nm (6 lb-ft)
- 10Reconnect electrical connectorPush electrical connector firmly onto fog light until it clicks into place. Ensure connector is fully seated and locking tab is engaged.
- 11Reinstall wheel well linerReposition wheel well liner to original position. Reinstall all push-type retainer clips by inserting clip body into hole, then pressing center pin flush until it clicks. Verify liner is secure and not interfering with tire.
Reassembly
- Lower vehicle if raised on jack stands
- Return steering wheel to center position
- Verify wheel well liner is properly secured and all clips are installed
Verification
- Turn ignition to ON position and activate fog lights using dashboard switch
- Verify newly installed fog light illuminates with proper beam pattern and color
- Check that fog light is securely mounted with no movement or rattling
- Inspect wheel well area to ensure no tools or parts were left behind
- Test drive vehicle and verify fog light remains functional over bumps
