Parts
- Dash tweeter speaker × 1 — Use OEM specification or aftermarket equivalent
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
- Turn ignition off and remove key
- Disconnect battery negative terminal and wait 2 minutes for airbag system to discharge
- Identify which speaker(s) need replacement (driver side, passenger side, or both)
Procedure
- 1Remove dash speaker grille coverLocate the triangular speaker grille at the upper corner of the dashboard near the windshield. Insert a trim removal tool at the rear edge of the grille and gently pry upward. The grille is held by plastic clips. Work your way around the perimeter, releasing all clips. Lift the grille away from the dashboard.
- 2Disconnect speaker wire harnessWith the grille removed, the tweeter speaker is now visible. Locate the electrical connector on the back of the speaker. Press the locking tab on the connector and pull it straight off the speaker terminal. If access is tight, use needle-nose pliers to assist with the tab release.
- 3Remove speaker mounting screwsThe tweeter is secured by three Phillips head screws arranged in a triangular pattern. Remove all three screws completely. Keep screws in a safe location for reinstallation.
- 4Extract speaker from dashboardLift the speaker straight up and out of its mounting location. Note the orientation of the speaker and any foam gasket or seal that may be present. If a gasket is stuck to the dashboard, carefully remove it and inspect for damage.
- 5Install new speakerPlace the new speaker into the mounting location, ensuring proper orientation (the connector should face the same direction as the original). If a foam gasket was present, transfer it to the new speaker or use a new gasket if provided. Align the screw holes carefully.
- 6Secure speaker mounting screwsInstall all three Phillips screws and tighten them in a star pattern to ensure even pressure. Tighten screws snug but do not overtighten as the plastic mounting points can crack. Verify the speaker sits flush with the dashboard surface.
- 7Reconnect speaker harnessPush the electrical connector firmly onto the speaker terminal until you hear or feel it click into place. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is fully seated and locked.
- 8Reinstall speaker grilleAlign the grille with the dashboard opening, ensuring all alignment tabs match their corresponding slots. Press firmly around the perimeter of the grille until all clips snap into place. Verify the grille is fully seated and flush with the surrounding dashboard.
- 9Reconnect batteryReconnect the battery negative terminal. Tighten the terminal bolt to specification using a wrench.Torque specBattery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)
