Tools required

Trim removal tool setEssential
Phillips screwdriverEssential
Flathead screwdriver (small)
Needle-nose pliers

Parts

  • Dash tweeter speaker × 1 — Use OEM specification or aftermarket equivalent

Preparation

  1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake
  2. Turn ignition off and remove key
  3. Disconnect battery negative terminal and wait 2 minutes for airbag system to discharge
  4. Identify which speaker(s) need replacement (driver side, passenger side, or both)

Procedure

  1. 1
    Remove dash speaker grille cover
Locate the triangular speaker grille at the upper corner of the dashboard near the windshield. Insert a trim removal tool at the rear edge of the grille and gently pry upward. The grille is held by plastic clips. Work your way around the perimeter, releasing all clips. Lift the grille away from the dashboard.
  2. 2
    Disconnect speaker wire harness
With the grille removed, the tweeter speaker is now visible. Locate the electrical connector on the back of the speaker. Press the locking tab on the connector and pull it straight off the speaker terminal. If access is tight, use needle-nose pliers to assist with the tab release.
  3. 3
    Remove speaker mounting screws
The tweeter is secured by three Phillips head screws arranged in a triangular pattern. Remove all three screws completely. Keep screws in a safe location for reinstallation.
  4. 4
    Extract speaker from dashboard
Lift the speaker straight up and out of its mounting location. Note the orientation of the speaker and any foam gasket or seal that may be present. If a gasket is stuck to the dashboard, carefully remove it and inspect for damage.
  5. 5
    Install new speaker
Place the new speaker into the mounting location, ensuring proper orientation (the connector should face the same direction as the original). If a foam gasket was present, transfer it to the new speaker or use a new gasket if provided. Align the screw holes carefully.
  6. 6
    Secure speaker mounting screws
Install all three Phillips screws and tighten them in a star pattern to ensure even pressure. Tighten screws snug but do not overtighten as the plastic mounting points can crack. Verify the speaker sits flush with the dashboard surface.
  7. 7
    Reconnect speaker harness
Push the electrical connector firmly onto the speaker terminal until you hear or feel it click into place. Gently tug on the connector to verify it is fully seated and locked.
  8. 8
    Reinstall speaker grille
Align the grille with the dashboard opening, ensuring all alignment tabs match their corresponding slots. Press firmly around the perimeter of the grille until all clips snap into place. Verify the grille is fully seated and flush with the surrounding dashboard.
  9. 9
    Reconnect battery
Reconnect the battery negative terminal. Tighten the terminal bolt to specification using a wrench.
    Torque spec
    Battery Terminal Bolts6 Nm (4 lb-ft)

Reassembly

  1. Ensure all dashboard trim pieces are properly seated with no gaps
  2. Verify speaker grille is flush and all clips are fully engaged
  3. Check that no tools or fasteners were left in the dashboard area

Verification

  • Turn ignition to ON position and test all speakers using the audio system balance/fade controls
  • Verify the new speaker produces clear sound without distortion or rattling
  • Test speaker at various volume levels to ensure proper operation
  • Confirm no warning lights are illuminated on the instrument cluster
