This procedure relearns the TPMS sensor positions after tire rotation, sensor replacement, or loss of TPMS data on 2014-2019 Toyota Corolla vehicles.
Warnings
ℹ️TPMS sensors must be functioning and have adequate battery life for relearn to succeed
ℹ️Tire pressures must be set to placard specification before beginning relearn procedure
Tools required
TPMS relearn tool or scan tool with TPMS functionEssential
Tire pressure gaugeEssential
Air compressor
Preparation
- Park vehicle on level ground and engage parking brake
- Turn ignition off and ensure all doors are closed
- Verify all four TPMS sensors are installed and functional
- Check and adjust all tire pressures to door jamb placard specification (typically 32-35 PSI front and rear)
- Ensure TPMS warning light is illuminated on dash (indicating system needs relearn)
Procedure
- 1Access TPMS relearn modeTurn ignition to ON position without starting engine. Locate the TPMS reset button under the steering column near the hood release lever. Press and hold the TPMS reset button until the TPMS warning light blinks three times slowly, then release. The light will remain on during relearn process.
- 2Relearn left front sensorStarting with the left front tire, use TPMS relearn tool to activate the sensor by holding tool against sidewall near valve stem. Alternatively, reduce tire pressure by 5-10 PSI then re-inflate to specification to trigger sensor. Wait for horn chirp or dash light confirmation before proceeding.
- 3Relearn right front sensorMove to right front tire and repeat activation process. Use TPMS tool or pressure change method. Wait for horn chirp or confirmation signal before continuing to next wheel.
- 4Relearn right rear sensorMove to right rear tire and activate sensor using same method as previous wheels. Proceed in clockwise pattern as viewed from above vehicle. Wait for confirmation signal.
- 5Relearn left rear sensorComplete relearn sequence at left rear tire. Activate sensor and wait for final confirmation signal. After this wheel, system should complete relearn process automatically.
- 6Complete relearn processTurn ignition off then restart engine. TPMS warning light should illuminate for approximately 3 seconds then turn off. If light remains on or blinks, relearn was unsuccessful and procedure must be repeated.
- 7Verify tire pressuresUsing tire pressure gauge, verify all four tires are at correct pressure per door jamb placard. Adjust as necessary. Drive vehicle for 5-10 minutes above 25 MPH to allow system to fully initialize.
Reassembly
- No disassembly required for this procedure
Verification
- TPMS warning light should remain off after engine start and during driving
- If equipped with multi-information display, verify individual tire pressures are displayed correctly for each wheel position
- Test system by reducing pressure in one tire by 5 PSI - warning light should illuminate within 1-2 minutes of driving
- Re-inflate test tire to specification and verify light turns off after brief drive
