Preparation

1. Park vehicle on level surface and engage parking brake

   Remove door panel lower fasteners
   Remove the Phillips screw located in the door pull handle area. Remove any additional screws at the bottom edge of the door panel. These are typically covered by small plastic caps that can be pried out gently with a flat screwdriver.

   Disconnect door handle and panel clips
   Use a trim removal tool to carefully pry around the perimeter of the door panel, starting at the bottom rear corner. Release all plastic retaining clips by pulling outward firmly. Work your way around the entire panel. Once clips are free, lift the panel upward approximately 1 inch to disengage it from the upper door frame channel.

   Remove door panel and disconnect wiring
   With the panel lifted, reach behind and disconnect the electrical connector for the window switch module by pressing the release tab. If equipped with rear power locks, disconnect that connector as well. Remove the door panel completely and set aside on a protected surface.

   Peel back water barrier
   Carefully peel back the plastic water barrier sheet from the door frame to access the window regulator mechanism. Start at one corner and work slowly to avoid tearing. The barrier is typically adhered with butyl sealant and can be reused if not damaged.

   Secure window glass in up position
   Manually lift the window glass to approximately 2-3 inches from the top of the door frame. Use masking tape to secure the glass to the door frame, running tape from the glass to the outer door panel. Alternatively, use a block of wood or foam wedged between the glass and door bottom to hold it in place.
   ⚠️Failure to secure the glass properly will cause it to fall and potentially shatter when the regulator is disconnected

   Disconnect window motor connector
   Locate the electrical connector on the window motor assembly. Press the locking tab and pull the connector straight off the motor. Note the connector orientation for reinstallation.

   Disconnect glass from regulator
   Locate the two bolts or nuts securing the window glass channel to the regulator lift arm (typically 10mm). These are accessed through holes in the inner door frame. Remove these fasteners and carefully disconnect the glass from the regulator mechanism. Ensure the glass remains secured by tape or wedge.

   Remove regulator mounting bolts
   Locate all regulator mounting bolts (typically 3-4 bolts of 10mm size). Remove each mounting bolt while supporting the regulator assembly with your other hand. The regulator is secured to the inner door frame at multiple points.

   Extract regulator assembly
   Carefully maneuver the regulator assembly out through the large access opening in the inner door frame. The regulator may need to be tilted and rotated to clear the door structure. If the cable is wound unevenly, take care not to let it spring out.

    Install new regulator assembly
    Position the new regulator assembly and guide it into the door frame through the access opening. Align all mounting bolt holes with the corresponding holes in the door frame. Start all mounting bolts by hand before tightening to ensure proper alignment.

    Torque regulator mounting bolts
    Tighten all regulator mounting bolts to the proper specification using a torque wrench. Verify that the regulator is seated flush against the door frame and does not move when pulled.

    Reconnect window glass to regulator
    Align the window glass channel with the regulator lift arm. Install the two mounting bolts or nuts and tighten securely. Ensure the glass is properly seated in the regulator lift mechanism before final tightening.

    Connect window motor and test operation
    Reconnect the electrical connector to the window motor. Reconnect the negative battery terminal temporarily. Turn the ignition to ON position (engine off). Test window operation by activating the rear window switch to verify smooth up and down movement through full travel. Listen for unusual noises. Once verified, disconnect battery again for final reassembly.

    Reinstall water barrier and door panel
    Press the water barrier sheet back into place, ensuring all edges are properly sealed against the door frame. Reconnect all electrical connectors to the door panel (window switch, lock switch if equipped). Position the door panel onto the door, engaging the upper channel first, then pressing firmly around the perimeter to seat all retaining clips. Reinstall all screws and replace any trim caps.

Reassembly

1. Reconnect negative battery terminal and torque to specification
2. Perform window auto-up/down relearn procedure if equipped: with ignition ON, fully close window and hold switch up for 2 seconds, then fully open window and hold switch down for 2 seconds
3. Verify all door panel screws and clips are fully seated
4. Test window operation multiple times to ensure smooth travel with no binding or unusual noises
5. Check that door panel is secure with no rattles or loose areas

Verification

• Operate window through full range of travel at least 5 times, verifying smooth operation in both directions
• Verify window stops correctly at full up and full down positions without motor strain
• Check for any unusual noises during operation (grinding, clicking, or cable slapping sounds)
• Verify window auto-up and auto-down functions work correctly if equipped
• Ensure door panel is secure with no rattles and all switches function properly
• Confirm window glass seals properly against weatherstripping when fully closed
